It is a decent place for a sit down lunch but beware (like some not all) that they charge for the yummy bread that will usually be on the table tempting you ! But this place charges you 3 EUROS for the 2 small pats of butter they give you with the 2 BIG pieces of bread (bread only 2 EUROS)!!!
So we ordered some shrimp and a couple of salads (which were also yummy).
On their food alone I'd give them a strong 4 for presentation and flavour, but the butter charge was just over the top.
Stay away there are other really good place around the corner !!!

Visited this restaurant with a large group of friends whilst on a day trip to Sinatra. It is located in the city centre and very popular.
Food was very pricey when compared with other restaurants in the area. Service was very slow and the food was just ok. When we got the bill, we were charged for a bottle of wine and additional meals that we didn’t order therefore we had to double check the bill again as we would have paid almost 100 euros more so make sure that you check your bill properly! Not impressed at all so this has been reflected in the rating I have given.

Cute restaurant opposite the National Palace. We ate a bite to eat and watched the hustle and bustle of the tourist stronghold of Sintra. The food was passable considering the central location in a tourist hotspot, and the staff were surprisingly friendly and attentive. We even got tips for excursions. We'd be happy to go back.

If I think about the worst places I've ever eaten, this one is definitely on the podium. Exorbitant prices considering the poor and poor quality of the food. Certain dishes do not come with accompaniments, which, for such high prices, is completely ridiculous. And even the bread, once ordered (expensive), comes at the time of the meal, completely unacceptable.
Service is also extremely poor, they brought the food and left, there wasn't even that standard situation of people coming to ask if everything was ok, etc...

While visiting Sintra we stopped at this restaurant before leaving to visit Peña.
Long wait to be served even though they will bring us the dishes or drinks from 3 other tables. The menu is very dirty, which gives rise to fears about the state of the kitchen. We had sardines and potatoes, which are a classic in Portugal. The sardines were not even emptied and the potatoes were cold... for 15€ 4 sardines not emptied and the equivalent of two shots for the potatoes.
They serve a Cesar salad for €18 with a cut sucrine, 4 pieces of chicken and a few shavings of parmesan on the plate.
In short, dirty restaurant with deplorable service and filthy and overpriced dishes

Me and my son ordered salads and sparkling water for lunch, and the waitress asked if we wanted some bread and olives while waiting. We agreed, and she brought us two small (bit chapped) buns, cup of olives and also two small butters, a small cheese and a couple of slices of prosciutto. I expected that to pay not more than a few euros, as the portions were quite small and especially since she didn’t mention anything of their prices and they knew we were there only for the salads. The salads cost 17 and 18 euros. I was shocked when I saw the bill: 60,50 euros in which the ”starters” (incl. water) cost 25 euros! This was even more than our ”main courses”! I don’t mind paying that for a nice dinner which I actually have ordered, but those appetizers were not even close worth their price and to sneek all that into our order the way they did, is just low and deceitful. We ate it so we paid it, but I want to warn everyone else of the deceitful service you may get in that nice looking restaurant.

Café Paris in Sintra, unfortunately, was a place of disappointment. From the outside, the atmosphere seemed promising. However, the experience quickly soured. First of all, the glass I was served was dirty, with visible lipstick marks still on it.
The food was equally underwhelming. The shrimp dish, which should have been cleaned, wasn't. Overall, the dishes were way far from satisfying, especially considering the very high prices, which didn't match the quality of the food. The only advantage I can mention—the waitstaff were attentive. But sadly, good service alone couldn’t make up for the café's shortcomings. I would rate this place 2 out of 5.

Staff disinterested and arrogant, trying to keep up the appearance of good quality food, but the reality is that it is really mediocre tourist food. Lucky for the restaurant is that it is centrally located and deals with day trippers from Lisbon.

If you want to have a coffee with a - not so special pastél de nata - served by unfriendly waiters at an exaggerated price please visit this restaurant. We have travelled in Portugal for some time now but we have never paid 6,35 for a coffee with pastel, not even in the tourist trodden spots in Porto or Lisbon. Don't visit this place!

Waited over an hour and a half for our food. We were asked if we would like bread while we wait (usually free but you never know). We said yes. We were served four pieces of bread (between 3 of us), assorted butter, olives and cheese (actually nice cheese). We were later surprised to find that these items were added to the bill with the butter costing over 2€ and the olives that we hardly touched costing 5.40€! When I asked the waiter about a possible discount due to our waiting time, he laughed at me. I wasn't going to pay the full bill but my friends are too kind. Would not go again.

Our group of 6 visited Sintra for a day trip this afternoon, and after taking in all of the breathtaking views and historical sites, we found our way to downtown for wine and a light meal.
We chose Cafe Paris, conveniently located on the square with views of side streets, shops, and National Palace. While we only planned to stay for a short period of time, the food, views, and excellent service kept us long past sunset. Our server, Ricardo, provided expert recommendations across the entire menu — ensuring we had delicious dishes to pair with perfectly curated Douro wines. The seafood rice was out of this world!
As an avid foodie and wine enthusiast, I can say with a high degree or certainty, Cafe Paris is a must-visit destination for all travelers who value quality food and heartfelt service.

This is a good place if you have a group looking for a bit of everything. The menu if very large with options varying from local to Italian to burgers. The name of the café is also a bit surprising if you are really looking for local food but the quality is pretty good. The plates offer great portions and the price while not the cheapest is certainly good for the amount of food you get. I was very satisfied with my choice of piri-piri chicken! 😋
