The restaurant charged me €11.90 for bread (€3) and sheep's cheese (€8.90!!!) which I didn't order or ask for. They bring it to you whilst you wait for your starter/main course, as if it is free. I wonder if they target tourists or if they...give this table tax to everyone...More

This wonderful family run restaurant is close to the centre and just far enough off normal touristy routes so retains some real authenticity. The menu was a nice selection of traditional Portuguese food. We enjoyed every dish; sardines as starter followed by local fish and...rice. Very tasty. Selection of wines was very good too. The service was attentive yet not overbearing. Suspect it is busier in the evening. We very much enjoyed our quite lunch. Thank you.More

What a great restaurant, beautiful home made traditional food served by really dedicated staff. We tried the spider crab , garlic mushrooms to start. Followed by the cod loin , and with a selection of home made sweets to follow. All washed down by a...great selection of wines. Not to be missed if you are in Lisbon.More

We stumbled upon this restaurant on a small side street in the Bairro Alto district. We had just finished a walking food/wine tour, so we were looking for a light late evening meal. We were pleasantly greeted when we walked in, and the staff was...very helpful and understanding that we were just looking for a few small dishes to share, and a glass of wine. The walls of the restaurant are covered with pictures of (famous) guests, and the fact that we did not recognize any of them means they are most likely local celebrities -- always a good sign that locals patronize the spot. The tapas we shared were very good, and the Monte Baixo local red was an excellent recommendation from our waiter. We were intrigued but did not try the family-style homemade dessert others were sampling from large glass bowls, but we were tempted. We probably should try this place again for a full meal to get a better idea of how good it is, but our first and limited impression was quite positive.More

We had the chance to be twice at the restaurant and the second visit just confirm our first impression. From the outside there is nothing special but once inside, from the decor you start to have a hnt of the place. The walls are covered...with photos of the clients, famous or not burt all very happy. The menu is very focused on the Portuguese culinary and the wine list very well selected. On top of this you have the sympathy of the owner and staff. Excellent food, ambiance and service!More

Apparently historic restaurant, 3rd generation family owned. Ambience cold and old, owner tired, food bad at best - lost opportunities.

Farta brutos didn't impress anyhow. Everything was quite mediocre: The service, the food, the atmosphere, just everything. You will probably not be disappointed but neither positively surprised.

We ended up in this restaurant quite late and were very hungry. The atmosphere is quite nice but little space with relatively quite a number of tables. We ordered the food and some wine, where they did not even know what grape it conained (it...was written on the bottle though so we were able to find out). It took some time until the food was served but the meat was so much dead I was not able to eat it (very very dry). My partner told the waiter (the one which spoke English) and he only explained this was the portguese way. OK, not sure about that in the past days it was different, but anyway he did not offer anything for taking back a full plate. My partners dish was very fat but not more than ok. The bill was way too high for the quality of food and service experienced.More
