Favourite meal in Lisbon by a long way! We had a wonderful evening at O Galhardo with incredible food. The location is great in the Alfama area and the terrace of 4 tables was a lovely setting. We tried as much of the Portuguese tapas...as we could and fell in love with the scrambled eggs with pork (would love to have a recipe if possible!) and the Codfish Portuguese style, as well as everything else we has too. A fantastic meal and at such a reasonable price!More
Having eaten in the Alfama district quite a lot we fancied something a little different, so we thought we’d have a little tapas. The location here is nice and cosy, which matches the small and snug size of the restaurant. When we first got there...there were no other customers and my wife had to go searching for a member of staff to see if we could eat. The same male waiter served us throughout and not once did he smile. He seemed a little preoccupied and I almost felt that our being there was of inconvenience to him. Anyhow, other diners dropped in and he seemed to relax into it after a while. We didn’t order a great deal of tapa but what we did order was really nice, albeit simple and perhaps not entirely worthy of the price. I’d noticed on the printed table menus that it stated you’d get a free cherry liquor (Ginghina) if you tagged a photo of your food at the restaurant on Instagram or Facebook. Being a lover of Ginghina I instantly Instagrammed our meal and tagged the restaurant. However, despite doing this I had to prompt Mr. Happy to provide the drink, as I wasn’t gonna leave without it! To summarise, the food was good but there’s definitely room for improvement with regard to service. If that was top notch then perhaps the slightly more expensive than not tapa can be justified. Mass potential here.More
Nice place to eat, good atmosphere. Small restaurant so not suitable for big groups. The tapas were not bad but also not really special, compared to the ones we had before in Spain and Portugal. Some were quite greasy/oily and salty (even for portugese law/habits),...others were ok. Prices were fair, the portions were big as wellMore
Great service, lovely position, good prices and lovely tapas. Best coffee I had in Portugal. Plenty of good options for vegetarians which isn’t always easy to find. Quaint little place. Cute cutlery and wine ‘glasses’ (cups) make sure you finish with the desert of the...day (for€2.50), a glass of Ginja (for €1) and an espresso (for €1) Perfect. Loved it and will be back next tome we’re in Lisbon.More
The staff were a bit grumpy and the prices and a bit steeper than much of the rest of Lisbon, but it is situated at one of the most touristic spots in the city. It would have been much nicer on a sunny day, but...we couldn't have everything. The menu is not expansive and it would be hard for a vegetarian to have a good meal here.More
During our trip to recent trip to Lisbon, early October, we decided to give this place a try after a long day of exploring as it was conveniently located near our Airbnb. It’s a small and cozy spot located in the Alfama area of Lisbon....We quickly made conversation with Pedro and other patrons dining that evening. The food and wine were fantastic and actually returned for two more visits, each time trying different tapas and wines that were fabulous. Would highly recommend stopping in for tapas and/or wine.More
Delightful location, fabulous food. The sardine on bread was divine, as were the rest of the tapas and the wine:)
Very nice restaurant, great products, but I think it needs more extras. We took steak with bread- great and fresh, but I think it have lack of something. Something portugese, cheese? Sauce? Spices? Simple bread and steak its fine, but its not someting unsuall and...great. Sardine and bread too simple, too dry. Nothing made flavour of sardine more powerful, its comes only with a dry bread. You can do more than that I believe. Octopus salad was okay- to much vinegar. Juices- great. Prices okay. Overall, it was good visit, still a lot of work to do, but its my opinion.More
Hard to get a smile.. Hard to justify 4€ for a sardine on a slide of bread .. 1 bifana beef overcooked :/ Too bad as place was very beautiful and well located
