All excellent despite the prices being very low, fresh and divinely cooked raw materials, bread at the table prepared by them and served hot and crunchy, good coffee and excellent homemade fruity liqueur served leaving the bottle on the table and even offered! On the podium the sandwich with braised wild boar (only €6) which I think I will also dream about all night long and the "pica-pau" veal which seemed a little tough when cut but instead melted in my mouth.
Very kind waiter who speaks both English and Italian very well.
Extremely low bill in relation to the quality of the dishes.
The only flaw is the reservations, we were extremely lucky because it was raining cats and dogs and, without even wanting to, we ended up in front of the restaurant a few minutes before it opened... in general I recommend booking a little in advance because it's worth it really worth it, plus it's just a few meters from the Santa Apolònia station.

We came across this small restaurant on the recommendation of an acquaintance because otherwise we hardly notice: it is located in a little street of the Alfama and has a simple sign that fully reflects the style of the place. Very small and with few tables so it is highly recommended to book in advance (we happened in the afternoon and fortunately I had a seat left). The atmosphere is quiet and informal, menu written on a blackboard with all the specialties of land and sea. The staff is very kind and attentive (I am celiac and they were able to show me without hesitation which dishes were suitable for me). SUPERB food: we took all fish and every dish was flat was better than the one before, from tuna to garlic prawns to octopus with a divine mashed sweet potato; to conclude a delicious crème mulled with passion fruit .. all accompanied by excellent green wine. Not to mention the French fries: illegal!! The fresh and excellent quality ingredients. Absolutely proportionate price: for 2 starters (olives and cheese), 3 courses, side dish, dessert and bottle of wine 87€!!
Without a doubt, the best dinner in Lisbon, unmissable experience!!!

Well in the Alfama neighborhood but very close to the Artillery Museum this small restaurant is serving preferably by reservation and with excellent astral is great service serves very well prepared dishes. We proved some and all very good. We love it!
PS: If it is by own car better park in the parking lot Santa Apolonia which is very close.

We booked some weeks in advance and still waited 40 mins before actually getting in and eating. The food was below expectations - of three dishes we sent one back, one was ok(ish) and the third was good. Portions were not generous. The desert was good. Overall: Hit and miss. There are better restaurants available in the area where you don't need to book so far ahead (and still queue!) and the food is more consistent. It was interesting to note that the place was full of tourists…. and no locals. We will not be going back again.

We visited this tavern because of the many great reviews and actually had to order the table 1 week in advance.
We (2 people) unfortunately had to share a large table with 2 other families. Privacy misrepresentation.
Already the drinks order went wrong. Instead of the water with gas, we got pure tap water.
By the way, you have to order extra side dishes here, which we did. We ordered 1 x fries, 1x sweet potato mash and 2 x shrimp at the same time.
The 1. Side dish was served, after 13 min had elapsed, the 2. Side dish, but still not a main course. After another 5 min we were brought 1 x shrimp. But we had ordered 2 x shrimp! The 2. Portion of shrimp we then got after another 7 min.
Between the 1. Side dish and the last portion of shrimp lay for 25 min. The side dishes were cold by now and the desire for the delicious dinner had passed.
The two waiters were apparently completely overwhelmed with the 27 seats in the tavern.
In addition, the tavern lives up to its name - all dishes were heavily salted. This should probably boost beverage sales!? Not ours, because we got out of here very quickly.

We tried to get a dinner reservation for this restaurant a few weeks before our visit and it was already booked out. While in Lisbon, we stopped by one night just after opening and they were able to accommodate us due to someone not making their reservation time. I’m so glad we got in since the food was outstanding. We ordered a few items to share between us and everything we tried was delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The food was tasty but our experience was ruined by the service. Apparently the fish comes first, then the sides, then the meat (not that we were told in advance)…that would be fine if the meals are tapas but the sides are actual sides…we got fries, aubergine, and two types of rice. Ultimately, three of us were left waiting for meat while the rest of the food went cold. We didn’t even get an apology either just a “that’s the way it is”. It’s an excuse for a small kitchen that can’t handle serving meals together! The meat itself was very good, we had the beef cheeks and lamb leg but after waiting so long we just ate, paid, and left!

This superb gastronomic paradise requires booking months in advance, or loitering outside prior to the second seating at 9:30 p.m. and hoping to snag a seat should someone not show up for their reservation. If you have to do the latter, fear not, should you get in the wait is well worth it, you won't be disappointed. Not only is the food amazing, but the service and camaraderie of the staff will make your experience complete. As will the bottles of house-made spirit the staff shares with you at no charge at the end of the evening. The menu is constantly changing but honestly, you can't go wrong here. Try the sangria, the house wine and especially the seafood. Roll home afterward, more than satiated and perfectly happy.

Absolutely amazing!!! The waiters were so accommodating and friendly. We arrived on the off chance at 1.45pm really hoping we could get a table for 4. They were sadly fully booked (I agree with the other reviews that it's best to reserve if you can) but said they would try to accommodate us at the next sitting if they got a no show. Luckily for us there was a no show and I'm so pleased!! The food was outstanding - everything we ordered was just delicious, a flavour sensation! Even the French fries were unique and so tasty. My favourite were the smoked pork (with a delicious salad with orange segments - sounds odd but really worked), the fried baby squid, the aubergine and the confit cod. Although everything was sooo good, I can't imagine you'd be disappointed with anything! The desserts were also divine especially the banana pudding (I wasn't expecting it to be so good), the passion fruit crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse! The bill came to only €105 for more than enough for 4 and 2 large beers. Thank you, 10 out of 10 and a great way to finish our stay in Lisbon!

A very small restaurant with a few tables with a nice atmosphere as soon as you enter.
Everything was good - orange salad, brocollini with confit garlic, sweet potatoes, oxtails, crème brûlée and house wine. I could have licked the dishes, the sauces were so delicious. However my favorite was the orange salad.
The kitchen and table service staff were amazing… what a great team!
A reservation is required and make sure you arrive on time, otherwise there is a line waiting! ;)

The food and atmosphere here was amazing. They do two seatings per night and you feel like you are walking into a friends kitchen in the basement. Lots of care put into each ingredient and you can tell. My wife and I ate really well for just over 100 euros. I’d absolutely go back again and recommend others to go here if they could only to one place to eat in Lisbon.

Restaurant was obscure, hard to find and a hole in wall however the meal did not disappoint and lived up to hype. Only a few tables and select seatings..we had 9:15 and all waited on line til prior seating finished but we sat promptly and in time. Two couples went and each tried different things..octopus with sweet potatoes, ray fish, lamb chops and pork…all were excellently prepared and had good and sufficient portions. Desserts were also good which we shared chocolate mousse and a traditional Portuguese egg custard. Will return when back in Lisbon

I made a reservation for lunch and I have to say that we loved it. The food was delicious and the waiter who served us was very friendly and explained everything to us without any problem since the menu was in Portuguese and English. We repeat the smoked eggplants with yogurt sauce. You have to try them!! We will repeat for sure!! Thank you !!!

The food here was really special. The best I have had in Portugal. The beef cheeks, the cod tongues - the octopus! All amazing! We had a slightly rocky start as the taxi couldn’t find it due to road closures and we nearly missed our booking time, so we were greeted with a warning that we were late and the kitchen would close soon. So I recommend leaving time to be sure of finding the place. The restaurant is tiny and rather basic but the food is wonderful. Not sure why some people complain of small portions. The portions are generous tapas sizes. Definitely worth the effort.

Just the best place. Very relaxed but super efficient staff. You must book beforehand - when we left at 21hrs there was a queue/line of 20 people waiting to get into this v small restaurant. Food was all on a chalkboard and included an amazing pigs cheek, great fish and interesting vegetable sides. We will definitely be back when we revisit Lisbon.
