We loved this restaurant. The meal consisted of small plates shared between the four of us and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. We left it to our helpful and charming waitress to choose for us There was a great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed...ourselves. Very good value.More

Day one of our holiday we found this tiny little traditional tavern next to the the Santa Apolonia train station. The perfect welcome to Lisbon. Good food (the idea is to share small dishes) The service was very good! The chocolate mousse was the perfect...end.More

If you are in Lisbon you MUST go there! The food is outstanding in all levels! Even the little espresso at the end was perfect!

I decided to book this restaurant via email a week prior, as I had a great meal here approximately a year ago. We booked for 8pm and arrived at most, 3 minutes late. Upon arriving, we were "greeted" by a gentleman on the door and...I proceeded to give my name and details of my booking. To my astonishment, he then advised, incredibly rudely, that because we were late, he had given our table away to other waiting customers who hadn't booked and were waiting in a queue on the door. He then went on to advise that if we wanted to eat there, we could come back in an hour and a half!!! "If we wanted to eat there?" I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of booking if I didn't want to eat there! He concluded by saying that there was nothing that he could do and that we should go elsewhere! Does this restaurant give lessons in customer service from watching old videos of Fawlty Towers, I had to ask myself! In conclusion, I wouldn't waste your time here as they are bereft of any notion of customer service.More

Best restaurant we have been in Lissabon. Portuguese food that you can share, everything was very tasty and the stad is friendly and helpful. Try to make a reservation because it is always full! Dishes cost around €8.

Amazing everything at this place. We just managed to get in. Only seats 20. You need to physically go the previous day to get name written down for 8 or 9.30pm the following day. Otherwise no chance to getting in. Food on a blackboard. If...he can’t get it that morning, it won’t be on the menu. Everything we ate was so tasty. All the other diners were saying the same. How you can mention the rubbish food at Solar 31 Calçada in the same breath on trip advisor baffles me. The owner os Sal Grosso was amazing too. Smiling and food tells it’s own story.More

Fantastic little restaurant. It is located next to the Sta Apolonia station, quite easy to find. You CAN make a reservation through their Facebook page. We had the oxtail, fries, bacalhau and chicken (and desserts). They also serve their own beer!!! Amazing place.

We ate in Taberna Sal Grosso on our first night in Lisbon. The food was amazing! We had codfish cakes, diced tuna (to die for!), bacalhau confiitado, French fries and roasted chicken. Everything was superb! Would highly recommend!

They have a Facebook page: I booked using Messenger. They replied promptly. You definitely need to book or you won't get a table.
