Since this place was just up the hill from my hotel I went everyday in some capacity. I kept going back for the cheap, down to earth food that is bursting with flavour, and also possibly maybe because of the cheap booze.... The Bifana was...awesome, amongst the best I've had in Portugal, the Prego com Queijo also disserves some love. It's also very impressive how hard the staff work, absolute machines the lot of themMore

I ordered bifana and it was so delicious. The staff is also very friendly and food is really cheap. I highly reccomend it!

Drunk locals roaring at the bar. Staff serve you after others if a tourist. Food is thrown at you! Charged more if not local. Chewy meat and ugly setting. Made famous by Bourdain but it is crap

It was edible, but very underwhelming having in mind the hype around it, it's just very chewy meat, with nice bread and mustard that takes over the taste.

Meh. Had better elsewhere, but had to go because bourdain. Was hoping for more flavor, but limited to bottles of mustard and hot sauce.

A return trip - O Trevo is famous for its Bifana. It is delicious and a bargain - have it with chips and beer. It has communal tables, which allow you you to see all walks of life congregate at this temple to paprika porn...in a bun.More

Also noticed by trip advisor we can recommend this location, the Bifana was nice and the price are also fair. It might be crowded but worth trying out. Only thing to avoid are the hamburger or cheesburger - it might not be whot one expects...(but still fair for the small price): It is just meat and cheese in a bread nothing more - adequate for the price, but not if you expect a "real" one. Better go to the other options that are well worth. Would come back definitely.More

Didn't know what to expect. Place was mobbed. This was our first stop on a ten venue self guided food tour. Basic pork sandwich was excellent and a great deal. Kind of chaotic. You're not going to get kind gentle service here. But once the...guy behind the counter figured out we were travelers, he pointed us to a table, told us to sit and came over. Menu is on the wall. Not sure if they have other languages. Oddly, he thought we were sitting with a young woman who was across from us and put her food on our tab! She had helped us figure out how to navigate the place so we picked up her meal. Very good food, typical beer. Lots of locals.More

Following the local people and the ratings we decided to have a lunch here. A sandwich with meat and mustard was one of the best things we've had during our two week'stay in Portugal. Prices great. Cash only.

Late lunch. Cold cod cake was nice but the pork sandwich was nothing special. Cheap prices. Very local and informal. Serves green wine - a local specialty which was nice to try.

Staff seemed to serve their friends first and foreigners second. Unbelievably rude manner and food was nothing special at all! So many better options nearby!

Great bifanas, very popular with locals and super cheap. Small beer €1 Typical Portuguese bar. If you can get a table outside even better!

Nice Bifana and quite busy with locals. But in my honest opinion 'As Bifanas do Afonso' is the one to go if you truly want the best Bifana in Lisbon.
