Excellent friendly team, tasty simple fish and steak dishes, restaurant opens at 7pm, bar open before that, mixed clientelle of locals and visitors, nicely priced and spotlessly clean

the beaten track from the tourist zone is the nice local restaurant, where you can taste fresh fish and local specialties. No fancy place, but friendly and fast service. Fortunately, no pictures on the menu! Don't come here if you want to be pampered. Learn...a word or two in Portugese and you will feel like a local.More

Ate here twice, very good both times. I had the broiled cod, which was delicious. Make sure you ask for a bottle of peri peri sauce. Its different....spicy.

Excellent food, although a small menu, well cooked and served. Pleasant atmosphere and one of those "the locals eat here" places. Worth the visit for simple, tasty food

We enjoyed a very reasonably priced simple fish supper in this restaurant. The atmosphere is very jovial and bright, but with lots of locals enjoying the food, so we guessed that it would be good. On the night we attended there was a football match...on the TV screen, but this didn't impair our enjoyment. The house wine was great, but who could complain at £2:30 for 50cl!!!More

This place was just down the street from our apartment. Couldn't understand much of what the owner, Paulo, was saying, but the locals were eating here and that is always good. And, Paulo, was very friendly and attentive. The menu definately has a no nonsense...traditional fare with some specials. We ordered wine, the guys ordered beer and we got bread, asked for olive oil. Two of us ordered Scabbard...mine was white, flaky and tender with a great flavor. It looked like an eel fish. My sisters, however, was a mushy hot mess, with just a couple forkfulls of good meat on the bones. Came with the usual potatoes and veggie. Also at our table was the pork and clams which was a bit salty, and grilled sole, which was yummy. But what we like in these casual side street taberna's are the people. Paulo couldn't have been any more hospitable and we felt honored to be in his cafe. Before we left, Paulo poured us all a digestif.More

We found this taverna in the back streets and were very impressed with the food and the friendly service. However, we were disappointed when the bill arrived as we had had the house wine but were charged for a different one which added €10 to...the bill. The waiter did admit the mistake and make the necessary adjustment but it did make us wonder.More

If you want to eat with locals (at locals prices) then you could not do better than here. Tucked away in a back street and unpretentious with long rows of tables so that you are all together if the restaurant is busy. Very friendly service....The menu drew us in as they had Scabbard fish on the menu (8.50 euros). This was perfectly cooked. If it is within walking distance of your hotel then it is worth a visit.More

Honest, Portuguese food. The restaurant was full of locals. You may have the share a table but well worth it. The food was great, local cooking and the waiter looked after us well. Well worth a visit.

Two types of clients! If you are a new client your service will be left for last, if you are a "habitué" you get all the attention and you will be done very fast.
