Take the subway to Cais do Sodré station, or the suburban train from Cascais, or a local cab or bus and you can easily reach a somewhat hidden excellent seafood restaurant at affordable prices. Traffic signs and weird city hall directives have made the restaurant...less obvious, but there you find a small staff led by the owner, D. Fátima, conversant in English and cooking on the spot the seafood you see displayed and choose. Of course, if you do not want fish you can find alternatives, but I regret you do not select " shrimp açorda", or "monk fish à Bolhão Pato", or "baked grouper", "Setúbal salmonetes", sardines (seasonal) or just choose from the daily suggestions made by D. Fatima. Closed for dinner Monday through Thursday expect in high season, the place asks for a visit asap, while the owner does not close it. Desserts are of local tradition and correct. Prices depend on choices made but range around 30€/person with wine and dessert.More

I expected much better quality. First of all, I expected more fisch than we actually received (34 euros for a Caldeirada which in my opinion costs between 15-20 euros). Moreover and the worst, the caldeirada was burnt and the taste of the vegetables and potatos...was awful. Freshness of the fish is without discussion really good but... if it is not well cooked... then...More

We had an amazing meal at 'A Pescaria' on our last evening in Lisbon, the food generally around the city is of a great standard but this restaurant is something else! It's actually based around the back of Cais do Sodre station tucked out of...the way and well off the usual tourist track... this is no bad thing. We went on a recommendation by the team at Lost Lisbon (a great guesthouse by the way!) and weren't disappointed. They only open Thursday to Saturday and offer authentic Portuguese fish dishes using the finest local catches, our dishes, Monkfish and Sea Bream, both cooked in clam sauce, oh my god, it was incredible, it wasn't cheap but it was so good I'd pay double! - the owner Fatima is super knowledgable and very friendly and I wish her all the luck in the future, she is aiming for a standard that is rare these days and highly commendable... delicioso!!!More

On the river and near the the the main station in LISBON, Chiado on the river is a fantastic find. We had just enjoyed tapas across the street at Time Out. We were interested in a truly fine experience in Portuguese cuisine. Following a Trip...Advisor review we went to A Pescaria. Before you are seated, you select your fish fresh from the fresh cooler. We chose the sea bass with clam sauce. This was plenty for the two of us. Flavor of fresh sea bass seasoned to perfection filleted with vegetables. After we finished a fantastic meal we learned from Fatima about this precious find. This restauranteur has mastered 20 years of the 87 year history of this restaurant. We also learned how strict the Portuguese authorities regulate restaurants in their country. far stricter than standards in the US. This is the best meal on our 30 day trip in Europe. We are returning tomorrow to have the fish stew for 2 people. The famous fish stew called caldeirada. Fatima and her staff serve true amazing Portuguese flavors off the tourist track.More

Our meal at A Pescaria was by far the highlight of our week long trip to Lisbon, a city of great food at every corner. This restaurant is a little bit off the tourist track, just behind the cais de sodre train station. It is...perfectly situated by the ferry terminal though if you fancy a pre dinner trip on the river and walk in Cashilas to work up a hunger, which is exactly what we did. This was a return visit to this restaurant for us, and it did not disappoint! From the delicious selection of fresh tapenade and prawns and broad beans in the couvert we knew we were on to a good thing. The fresh fish was incredible. Grilled simply with a clam sauce, my mum and I shared a sea bass and my partner had a whitebream, which was also fantastic. In a city where grilled fish is at its best, this was a cut above the rest. We finished with some delicious home made desserts of mousses and creme brûlée and coffee. A total delight.More

Went here on a recommendation as you would probably not find it otherwise. It is tucked away at the back of the Metro, Train Station of Cais De Sodre, and even as you see it it still looks like a fish factory. But what a...surprise with the food dishes. Freshest of fish of which there was a huge selection and the lady owner caytered for our request to cook off menu. She also took time to come and chat which was great as she is a very nice person and provides fantastic fish dishes. Do not miss it if you want fish.More

Fatima is a a delightfully friendly host whether in advance by email or in person at her restaurant. As we had booked for a Sunday when they are only open for lunch she suggested we visit in the morning to make our choice of food...so that we would not be disappointed if our choice was not available. Fatima suggested "cataplana" which was perfect for us and the dish was absolutely delicious and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you are a fish and shellfish lover.More

We ate at A Pescaria twice on a recent trip to Lisbon and the reviewer who referred to it as a "hidden gem" is right on target. Hidden on the waterfront right behind the train station and a short walk from the considerably more chaotic...Time Out Market, A Pescaria is a small quiet spot that has incredibly fresh seafood and from what I could tell, no specific menu aside from their well trained staff asking you what you enjoy. On our visits we had sea bass with clams, skate wing, and grouper...all of which were prepared in a way that let the fish itself shine. No crazy sauces or techniques, just fresh high-quality ingredients and 87 years (we asked) of experience. Lunch appears to be their busiest time, but they are open until 10:30 pm so dinner is just as enjoyable. I only wish I could have had one or two more visits, but I guess I'll just need to go back again sometime soon.More

my friends and I found this resurant completely by chance and Im so glad we did. We were looking for something to eat around Cais du Sodre station on our way from the beach. This hotel was the closest Portuguese restaurant according to Google maps....From th outside the resraurant looks more like a fishery rather than a restaurant, but when you come in and see the fresh fish on the display and neatly laid tables, greeted by cheerful owner, yu just want to stay. Food is all home cooked from lcally sourced ingredients, its very fresh and tasty. We had some starters of traditional bread, cheese and jam, smoked fish and crab meat, following a sea bass for three and yummy home made desserts. Washed it all down with crisp Vino Verde.... The owner and waitress are very chatty and friendly. So we had a fantastic time, would have been back again, but the restaurant is closed on Sunday evening and Monday all day, so we have discovered it too late :( Its not the cheapest resyaurant in Lisbon, but its so worth it!More

Visited this restaurant with my family and we enjoyed it very much. We ordered some mixture of appetizers (olives, fried small fish, cheeses, etc.) and as a main dish we had a grilled fish. It was fantastic, perfectly done and very tasty. They also had...a nice selection of local wines, which we nicely paired with the food. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone who loves to enjoy a good sea food.More
