Aside from the fact that this place was VERY expensive, the food was excellent and the fado was varied and seemingly authentic. Service was excellent and highly attentive and the wine list, if pricey, had interesting choices, including a sparkling red from Morganheira.

Fado is the specialty of this tourist attraction, so if you don't like folk music, you won't enjoy the experience here.

My wife and I are on vacation in Portugal. As is our practice we try to experience local music as in the distant past, under a stage name, I was part of a Grammy award winning group. The food was excellent, the service terrific and...More

Rude waiters, food was so bad, the best thing was the free wifi... An absolute joke... Do yourself a big favour and stay away!

This cafe caters to tourists, and, if, you have never experienced a Fado performance before, it is a good place to start. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time though! The performances are typical Fado and are very entertaining, especially the vocalists, with their...More

After spending an evening previously at another fado restaurant, that had amazing food and fado but lousy service, we decided to give this place a go. I wish I had read the Trip Advisor reviews prior to spending $140 on a meal that was slow to...More

Fado for the masses. Generally a good show, but meals are more "catered", and while acceptable, is nothing special.

I strongly advise travelers considering Cafe Luso to give the place a miss. Our waiter was rude, the food was abysmal (and horrendously overpriced), and the music uninspired. A huge busload of tourists occupied the tables at the front and we sat at the back....More

Congrats, if you never been there you should. It's a nice place, where you can spent some time with a nice show. I'll recommend the second show, but you should see the first as well. If you go there, let me know. I... More
