Belcanto Rocked. Truly worth the effort. Incredible service, food, and hospitality was great. They actually bring you in the kitchen to meet Chef. A nice touch to our 12-Course amazing meal that we will never forget.

would not say just a meal, was a food and wine adventure. Went over a year ago and it is still a standout. Worth every cent.

Honestly, upon entering it felt a little stiff and uppity but not unpleasant. It was probably me since I am not a frequenter of fashionable Michelin Star boutique restaurants but I love Jose Avilles creations and have been to his other restaurants. His approach to food is a stimulation to our scenes as well as pleasing to our pallets. We... More

A group of friends came here for dinner when visiting Lisbon on a weekend break. We went for the full discover tasting menu and it was amazing. Some of the course were spectacular. It was not cheap but then what do you expect for a 2 Michelin starred restaurant. We also went for the wine pairing and again this was... More

Ordered the Discovery Tasting Menu, so everything came as surprises. Loved most except one dish (which had Pork Fat). Pretty presentation & a lot of varied taste. Everyone serviced with smiles, making the dinner every relaxed & enjoyable. Highly recommended.

The Taste of Portugal with wine pairings is not be missed! Everything is outstanding, even thought your eyes will deceive you as place the chef's masterpieces into your mouth! Service just moves your table along at a pace that feels relaxed, yet never slow, and certainly not rushed. It is clear everyone working in this restaurant knows they are part... More

Having lunch at Belcanto was one of the fine dining highlights of my visit to Lisbon. Every plate arrived to the table in precise sync with the other. Plating that no instagramer would resist with beautiful design and a surprising molecular surprise. Throughout the course of this meal, many surprises were served to the table, which turned it into a... More

Went to Belcanto with some colleagues. A truly memorable experience from start to finish. Food was brilliantly executed, fun and bursting in flavour - the wines were equally excellent. It is not often you are impressed by the bread and butter but even these were amazing (especially the olive bread and rosemary ash butter). I particularly enjoyed the Tangerine -... More

We chose the ‘Discoveries menu’ with wine pairing and had a fabulous experience. The food was not just delicious but artistically presented. So, it’s gourmet restaurant and definitely not for budget goers! The wine pairing was very good but extremely limited! That’s the only thing we didn’t like. The waiters are prof. They took care of us and were there... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
