Poor service, horrible food and when we get the bill we have to pay 10% more for the service... They give you the bread, butter, baccalauh croquetas and olives which are additional money without telling us while in all the other restaurants we did they ask you which one you want and tell you that it is in addition to... We had high hopes for this place. It looks nice and inviting, interesting menu...until you go inside. I rarely give a "TERRIBLE" review. The food couldn't save this place. The host appeared angry and disinterested in our presence. He pointed us to a table and we waited for someone to acknowledge our presence. If the goal was to make us... More

We stopped here wanting a quick light lunch after a trip to the castle. At 8 euros we weren't expecting miracles but were very happy .A small bowl of tasty vegetable soup ,a main course of beautifully cooked grilled sardines and a small dessert plus a beer or water .Just what the doctor ordered quick tasty and great value.

This small cafe is close to the entrance of Castillo St. Jorge. It has an outdoor seating area that, in rain or shine, is well-positioned for watching the parade of people, cars, and buses that try to make it up the narrow streets. The food is very good, too. The cheese appetizer is a delicious starter, I especially enjoyed the... More

After visiting the castle the kids were hungry and impatient, so we chose this place just beneath the castle entrance for lunch. The restaurant is situated on the top of a steep square and the view is very nice. At first it looked very touristy but the menu appeared to be somewhat varied - for both kids and grown-ups. I... We took the 10 euro menu (small soup, tuna or pork, little dessert and drink). Free fado music. No top cuisine but very good price/quality.

Don't let you misleading the outside look of the place. Inside, I ate the most tastiest fish in Lisbon.

Visited this place last night before we left home. We planned to spend half an hour to eat and leave, and we even didn't realized how we spent there almost 2 hours, and probably we've got best hours we had in Lisbon. People are friendly, food was good, and one of best Sangria I've through this trip to Spain and... More

El pescado estaba crudo. La cerveza caliente. Ascazo de sitio. No vayan!! The fish was raw and the beer wasn't cold at all. This site is disgusting! Dont go there!

Frozen food all the way. Cheap and you get cheap food. Do not recommend! Service is long and not really professional. Restaurant down the castle - walk away.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
