We tried a few traditional portugese tapas-style restaurants but this was definately the best. High quality food and an extremely friendly waitress! Goat cheese with honey and rosemary our favourite! Small, cozy place. Make sure you get a reservation since this seems to be quite popular.

Great place, great food. Definitively going back! The restaurant is very small and always full, so I would advise to book in advance.

My wife and I discovered this place perusing Tripadvisor close to where we were staying in Lisbon. I emailed a reservation request early in the day on the Friday we were to arrive. They confirmed and we showed up to a very cozy and delightful restaurant on an unassuming street. The service was very good and the food (Portuguese tapas,... More

Although the Cantinho Lusitano is tucked away in a quiet back street it is worth finding. We fortunately booked beforehand because as suggested on here it is a tiny place and all the tables were full by 8.30pm. The busy owner/waitress gave us a good welcome, gave us some local bread with garlic butter and then helped us to select... More

Excellent meal. We had olives, bread and delicious garlic butter. Then Beef in special sauce, fish cakes, garlic prawns and Goats cheese followed by Lemon pie and chocolate cake. Everything was top notch. Excellent service in a cute little restaurant with a couple that were working so hard to get everything right and with a bottle of wine that was... More

My wife and I felt like neighborhood regulars as we enjoyed an excellent, creative dinner with modern takes on classic dishes. As "Petiscos" (Tapas), we had Cheese with Pumpkin Jam, Pica-Pau --- strips of beef with special sauce and fried sweet potatoes, and a fish stew, together with Mafra (area) Bread, garlic butter, seasoned olives. Even its classic desserts were... More

My husband and I loved the warm welcome, the food and excellent wine, the place is simple and small about 5 tables, make reservation before you go and do not be fool by the outside of the building, the area is not a tourist place and clients are mostly locals. We really enjoyed having good Portuguese tapas style food and... More

Booked by email for the 2nd June. Got a quick response and the table was booked. I would recommend booking because on the night we watched many people turned away. Food is tapas style with a Portuguese twist. Four dishes would more than cater for two hungry people. Fresh produce beautifully cooked and served with charm. Superb night. Will be... More

Staying in Principe Real

Neighborhood Profile
Principe Real
From the splendid garden and its cafe-kiosk to its restaurants, Príncipe Real is more than worthy of a visit and it won't let you down: its attractions include "Pavilhão Chinês" (one of the more eccentric interior designs you'll ever see), museums and a fantastic botanical garden. It's also a commercial neighborhood, and you can visit a renovated Palace, home of the Embaixada (embassy) trendy shopping center with its cafes, art galleries and luxury shops... and even if you don't buy anything, take a look inside just for its marvellous interiors. On top of this, Príncipe Real offers a variety of places to eat: if you're in a hurry, drop by "Pizza a Pezzi"; and if you're not, taste the delicious Honorato hamburgers, Argentinian cuisine at La Paparrucha and also great, delicious Portuguese food at Tascardoso!
