After a morning of trying to navigate the Lisboa Metro and streetcar in the hot sun, our group of 10 stumbled upon Rota do Infante and it was perfect. We had a delicious and relaxing lunch with excellent service. From calamari to veal&bacon sewers to chicken to my more adventurous 'pescada' (see picture, came with delicious rice), nobody in our... Good people run the place, good people serve the food, and most of all the food is beyond good. The service took some time to get going due to us bringing 10 people to the packed restaurant, but they managed to get us food, which was very fresh. To top it all off it has air conditioning, a fine feat... More

They make things fresh from start, NO SHORT CUTS! Therefore it is NOTA DRIVE THRU! Order appetizers, savor the wine, eat the bread, ask for seasoned butter, etc. Look around enjoy the view and the sea breeze. The food is worth the wait and the staff is courteous and polyglot. Great experience

The dishes have a very bad taste. Long waiting for having bad food and even for the drinks. The staff doesn't know english at all so it's very hard to communicate with them. I won't go there again in the future

We had been in Belem for the day and had many choices for food. The menu is in a variety of languages and the staff is friendly. We both had fish, I had a sea bass and my husband had the cod. Both are served grilled and had nice flavor. The place has a mix foreigners and Portuguese. We sat... More

Staff were very attentive & friendly. This restaurant was less busy than all the others on the tourist strip ... We chose it for this reason & weren't disappointed. Food was good & more reasonably price than all the others. We hada laugh with staff plus complimentary expresso.

Out of the restaurants that line up the front row of houses in Belem, I chose this one ...and was lucky. For little money I sat outdoors on the terrace, had delicious local food (octopus and sardines), served friendly and in a lovely setting. I wish all cheap touristy restaurants were like the Rota do infante!

We waited for ages to be seen to and were not so we went somewhere else! There was two waiters wondering around and not wanting to seat us! Also one of the waiters was eating his nails/fingers! Not impressed!

It's perfect after a morning of city sightseeing in Belem. We had lunch in the terrace. For couvert we had cheese, butter, sardine pate and bread. Then we had roasted sausage for share and dourada and grilled sardines as main dishes. Sardines were really tasty. Prices are OK. Unfortunately WiFi worked quite bad.

Staying in Belem

Neighborhood Profile
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
