Enjoyed a lunch hear, Gambas, Sardinas, house wine were all very good as was the service. We had nothing to complain about, it is a little basic outside but if the food and service is good that's everything.

We tried this cafe for lunch. Meal took too long. We did not receive water which we ordered or oils for our salads and our bill was loaded with a more expensive dish. A rip off.

To begin, the place was looked quite mediocre. But it had some view out over the ocean if you were tall enough to look over the wall. I choose 'pork shops' in sauce for 7.5€. I didn't expect much, but it was quite delightful for a lunch. My partner chose salad and omelette but unfortunately the salad was not that... More

Our experiences in Lisbon are exceptional, also as far as dining is concerned. But one exception should be mentioned: this restaurant. My wife was served rice with fruits de mer, that was eatable, but just that. I was served a trout, that would have been caught on the nereby river, according to what the menu mentioned. Well, the trout was... More

Great service for lunch with wonderful views of the river, landscape. Our server was very efficient and quite a character. Clams with olive oil, lemon, parsley sauce served in clay pot. Grilled sole (full fish without head) with lemon slices, green beans, potatoes. Simple and delicious. Reasonable prices.

The food served is among the worst i have had in a restaurant. The food was edible, but the dishes seemed to consist mostly of ingredients, (like mashed potatoes) from bags that were only heated before being served. I usually eat all the food on the plate this time I didn't. It is the only restaurant I have been to... More

We stopped here for a late lunch so it wasn't so busy. My husband and son shared chateaubriand steak for two, priced at a very reasonable 25 euros. It was served with mushrooms, cooked tomatoes and garlic and sides of mixed vegetables and French fries. I had veal with mushroom sauce and fries which was nice. Our wine was good.... More

...you don't need a good chef . Definitively under any expectations ( that in my case were very low). For the first time in Lisbona i gave more importance to the location than to the quality but i could not expect something so low quality. And it is not even cheap!! Skip it, is one of the worst.

We ordered sardines and beers. Waited a lot. The service was so slow. Sardines are not well prepared and cleaned. No sight of view. The description about the place in guides are not true. I do not recomend the place. There is a nice ceramic picture. I thing that the previous condition of the place could be much better. Now... More

This review relates to drinks only. We did not consume any food, so please keep this in mind when reading this review. My wife and I stayed across the street from this restaurant for three weeks. We went across to this place for a drink on our first day here. We were very surprised when we were charged 16.50€ for... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
