We were looking for grilled food and spotted this restaurant on our way back to our apartment in Alfama. We did read the review on TA and they were right on. We had grilled chicken, salmon and sardines ... all very good! The service is correct but the big "hic" is the setting ... bare walls, strong lights and TV... More

Visited this place with my aunt and uncle, and both of them got poisoned, eating salmon and sardines, and were sick all the next day. Horrible. I was eating mini-steaks and was feeling okay. Looks like the fish was spoiled. Avoid this place.

We chose this place on Trip Advisor reviews but it was undoubtedly the worst meal of our stay. Firstly the waiter we initially encountered was rude, surly and unhelpful. Thankful his colleague helped us find a table and served us for the rest of the evening. As a family of five we ordered prawns - nice, big, nothing special -... More

The open kitchen quickly attracts your eye next to the Casa do Bicos. Fish is fresh and grilled on the spot, good choice that differs from the classic sardines. Plenty of space on the terasse!

The restaurant was 1/2 full at 13.30. We were waiting and waiting to our order more than 45 min - so we left hungry the restaurant with their ridiculous "sailor" waiters and went to the Casa Prima Italia in the near (where we had quickly a good spaghetti marinera).

We arrived around 2.10 on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was about 50% full. We ordered grilled sardines very promptly as we were very hungry and sat back with a glass of sagres... 40 min later and getting considerably more pink in the blazing sunshine (we are to blame for the choice of the seats!) we asked where the... Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
