My husband and I happened upon this restaurant off the beaten path in Lisbon. The bacalhau was outstanding! It came with delicious green beans and small potatoes. My husband got two large soft pieces of pork which were delicious! We also ordered a bottle of white wine. Altogether, it cost $35 Euros. The waiter was personable and so helpful! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Typical local Portuguese food in a family run small restaurant with easy to see fresh fish/meat displayed in the fridge in window - again typical. Couvert are on the table (normal in many places) but can be refused - despite previous reviews. We ate and happy to/pay for ours and they were very tasty. Fish soup was full of flavour, then we had 2 specials - pork secretos and octopus. We enjoyed all the food, and the bill, including 1 dessert (Molotov), bottle of wine, water and 2 coffees was €54. Great value for Lisbon.

Scam / Fraudar. Avoid at all costs. This is the worst restaurant I’ve set foot in. The only way this place is still operating is through scamming customers. Food brought over without asking, ultimately to allow them to add onto the bill at the end (1€ per Butter, €1 per pate, cheese, etc). Be firm and put this back. Most of the menu is seafood, which you find out has been sat in a “fridge” at the front which means it’s inedible. This is the only place I have been that has shrugged and insist we pay after we pointed out the food wasn’t fresh and too salty. Any self-respecting chef would try to fix the issue. Added to that, the waiter seems to make up prices that don’t match the menu. Despite completely inedible food, we got overcharged 8€. Waiter couldn’t tell us the price of a beer.

Have no fears when you order here. Everything will be amazing when it comes to your table. I began by ordering food from the menu, but now mostly order whatever is special for the day. We adore this restaurant and are so glad to have been introduced to it by a local friend. I always have such gratitude for the foods we enjoyed here. It's not only the delicious meal that we enjoy but a feeling of friends and community in the restaurant.

My wife and I did not fancy sitting in a restaurant so ordered a take away. We had rice with seafood, plenty of fish and prawns in a delicious broth. We also had a whole cooked fish, potatoes, broccoli and carrots. Total was €18.80, which was great value for the portion size and freshly cooked.

Traditional Portuguese Restaurant but with a touch of touristic. Watch on what they put on the table without your solicitation. Everything os charged: bread, butter etc. It is a custom in Portugal. Somewhat , it covers for the tips. Same way of having a coffee at the counter or bring to the table. Different prices

This place was great. Just typical Portuguese dishes. English was a bit of a barrier, which means we were in the right place. You had to pint to the English line item tied out to the Portuguese, so manageable for sure. We had shrimp, pork, fish - and it was all delicious. I did learn when they offer samplings/app/bread in the beginning there is a charge. Decline if you don’t want that ~5€ extra fee. We liked it because we tried small bites here. This seems standard in Portuguese restaurants. 3 for lunch with wine/beer was about 50€ - great prices. I’d come back.

Fair warning, I learned that in Portugal you pay for everything, including the bread, butter, ham, and croquettes that the server will bring to your table without you asking for, they won't tell you until the bill comes. If you touch it, you pay it. It seems it is customary in Portugal. It is a local place to eat and have good food if you stay with daily offers. Also, be aware it is a small place and they have their fridge out in the main saloon. It seems they want to show how fresh their products are, so, expect they opening and taking out the seafood or meat selection. Our party stayed with the fish selection of the day and we were not disappointed.

Kind of typical tourist trap. Food is good but you have to pay for starters witch compulsory and there is no information about the price until you get your check. If you go there you need to add at least 15 euro to your bill. One star is for unfair treatment of customers.

Walked past what seemed like a local hole in the wall looking for a simple Portuguese meal. Goat on the menu sealed the deal for me so in I went. They brought two (days old) rolls to the table with butter, cheese and some deep fried breaded something. Beware, this is not complimentary (butter €1) My partner ordered the seafood rice which looked nice from afar but was far from nice. Fake crab sticks and fake fish with two prawns and bits of real crab shell in a bath of brine. The crab sticks were still cold from the freezer I had the cabrito which was clearly dry aged since medieval times. It came with stale potatoes and a surprisingly good onion gravy and yellow rice. The rice was freshly made which with the gravy were the highlight of this first night out in Lisbon Almost forgot to mention the jamon which was wet and mushy. The bill was called for after the meal and was over charged by €5. Felt really sorry for other foreigners dining there and luckily managed to advise two others not to venture inside as we left This dive gives a poor impression of what one expects from a great food country Shame on you for your lack of self respect and doing your country’s name a disservice Voettjek!!!

This is the best food I have had in Lisbon so far. We enjoyed the seafood rice for lunch and it was really good. More seafood than rice and tasting fantastic.

Grilled fish came covered with garlic, onions, totoaly burned and too salty. The shrimp dish was also too spicy and the taste was horrible. The fish fridge is right at the area where the guests are sitting and it always smells badly when they open it to get a fish out for cooking.

We had walked for ages around the Barrio Alto, but came across this place on the outskirts of the district. We were the only persons in, as it was getting late. The service was very good and the bill was very reasonable. The chef cooked us squid, not as advertised but as we requested,We had a couple of huge steaks that came with a hot stone and accompaniments. The beers were very cold and unusually, we decided to share a a dessert. A huge baked apple, was plenty big enough for 2. It was not fine dining, but we were very satisfied of what we ate and how we were served. The place was basic, comfortable and no frills attached. I recommend it.

We ordered the Bacalhau na Nata (cod) and Arroz de Mariscos (seafood rice). They were both delicious! The arroz had beautiful prawns, crab and octopus, all very fresh. I agree with other reviews when they said the salgados were cold (definitely not the house specialty, so don’t bother trying), but I disagree about the anger over being charged for the appetizers (bread, butter, cheese etc). That is a practice pretty common all over Portugal, not only Lisbon, to serve different appetizer options and be charged for what you eat (not saying I agree with it, but I don’t think this place deserves a downgrade based on a common practice of most restaurants). Overall, an incredible experience!
