We enjoyed a tapas style lunch here with meats and cheeses. We were the only ones in but perhaps it gets busy in the evening. Pleasant staff. Lovely food.

Our companions ordered the "Surprise" sampler of hot and cold tapas - €44 for two people - and found it very disappointing. Sardines right out of the can, salmon and cream cheese roll-ups(!), and other uninspired items were typical of the offerings. Their desert was a straight-out-of-the-60's chocolate fondue. We had the cod soufflé-interesting but basically tasteless, Pork cheeks and... More

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had. Our waitress was energetic and worked with a smile. We just had a meat and cheese board but it was out of this world - one of the best I've had. Wine selection is huge so we asked the waitress for her recommendation and we were not disappointed. I'd love to go... More

We were looked after very well by our waiter. He gave us good advice about our wine and what to choose from the menu. I am gluten, onion and garlic intolerant and was accommodated well unlike a few restaurants we had asked at further up the road. There was live music which was very pleasant and unobtrusive too. The chocolate... More

After a cancelled wine tasting I was supposed to have attended in the Algarve, this was the one thing I wanted to do before I left Portugal. I was lucky enough to have found Grapes & Bites - I walked in late afternoon and asked if they would do a wine tasting. I don't believe it's necessarily on the menu... More

My wife and I had lunch here and decided to go back for dinner. My codfish, olive tapenade and hummus were delicious and the basket of various breads and melba toasts was just right. My wife's gratinated mussels were considered the best she has eaten. Staff were very friendly and despite a very full restaurant in the evening the wait... More

We stopped at grapes & bites after dinner for a glass of wine before going back to our hotel. Once we sat down despite having just finished a 2 courses meal we couldn't resist from ordering the octopus salad. This was an unique dish with fully balanced flavours and well matched with our glass of wine. Definitely the standards of... More

It may be a small restaurant but unless you go inside you have no ideea what you are missing. The food was excellent (we ordered octopus), and it arrived fairly quick. The best part was the wine and the service. As there were a lot of options, the server asked if he could suggest something and of course we said... More

I truly loved everything about this place! From the cute tables and simple decoration, to the delicious fresh goat cheese, chorizo, jams and rose wine! The blonde waitress who attended us was soo nice and honest (she didn't have the wine we ordered and suggested a similar one, which she tasted first and was honest enough to admit it was... More

Located in the heart of Lisbon, in a mandatory visit neighborhood as the Bairro Alto, just a few meters away from Chiado, you find in this Wine House a committed team in a relaxed, family atmosphere, accompanied by live music that animates every night. Between the passion for wines of Antonio Baeta and the passion for cuisine of Silvia Mendes, we get the alchemical mixture of two key ingredients that make the success of this house. On the one hand, more than 1000 national references between white, red, green, sparkling and fortified wine, where the vast majority can be tasted by glass, or even taken home bottled, on the other hand, a continuous search for the best Portuguese delicacies turned into simple dishes, but with great flavor, from cheese and sausages boards with homemade jams, to mussels or scallops gratinated, seared canned tuna, or even cod or octopus in the oven. Upstairs this XVIII century building, fully redone, you can find a room for the night in a cozy environment. Six bedrooms, some with private bathroom, a mixed dormitory, a common living room, a common kitchen where breakfasts are served or where you can cook your own food and an outdoor patio, make of this Hostel a selected place for those who like to enjoy the night of Bairro Alto, and want to stick around. Enjoy every moment of the two spaces in a relaxed way and with quality. Wine House Open every day from 12h00 to 24h00.
