What a pleasant surprise! We chose this place for a late lunch and took all the time to explore its menu. Every dish was simply perfectly executed, ranging from the chorizo in firefighters style, smoked codfish, braced Iberian pork, sweet potatoes, their signature rice, and...garlic sausage fried balls. Of course we were quite full but overly satisfied!More

Arriving into Lisbon very late, and starving, we chanced upon Taberna Tosca and were delighted with our meal there. Doors open to the busy street outside on a warm, muggy evening, plied with tapas and drinks, we couldn't have been more content. Lovely service, and...lovely restaurant. Definitely recommended.More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We went for dinner and enjoyed a variety of yummy tapas with a nice glass of wine. Our server was attentive and excellent, even as the restaurant began to get very busy.

We had some very good tapas here and a couple of nice cocktails. However, surprisingly in a city where service is generally excellent, the service was poor. The restaurant was quiet and the waitress spent most of the evening with her back to the guests,...either on her phone or chatting to the bar staff. A nice evening nonetheless but no more than a 4* rating.More

Recommended by our hotel and only a short walk from Casa Sodre. Tapas were very good and well priced. Very pleasant ambience in the restaurant. Excellent service, much appreciated.

This was without a doubt my favourite meal that we had in Lisbon. Each dish was delicate and distinct. The pork cheeks were succulent. The rice flavoursome and perfectly cooked. The hummus and breads were delicious and it seemed that care was taken over each...element. There was a gorgeous vegetable dish...where each vegetable was perfectly cooked. The service was also great.More

I went to Taberna Tosca after a day of walking around town. The menu was an interesting mix of produce and flavours. I chose the pork cheeks in a sauce of ginger, port and mushrooms. The cheeks were as tender as anything I’ve had in...a long time. The sauce was tasty but quite salty and I couldn’t taste the ginger. What let the meal down was the service. Five servers with only 12 patrons. The servers seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves and to attractive patrons than to waiting customers. Still worth a visit if you’re not in any hurry.More

We had lunch at Taberna Tosca on a short, 2-day stopover in Lisbon and loved everything about it. The interior is modern and just a bit rustic, with lots of stone and wood, which gives the place a stylish but very warm, welcoming feel. (Their...efficient air conditioning was a welcome bonus, as it was 90F (32C) on the day we were there.) We started with rustic bread, garlic olives, and a bottle of Portuguese sparkling. The bread was fresh, and the olives were deliciously garlicky without being overpowering. The wine was a bit less dry than I usually like, but on such a hot day, it worked and really hit the spot. We then moved on to the Olavo Baldaia (smoked salt cod with coriander olive oil and crispy corn bread). The combination of smoked fish, cilantro and whole pink peppercorns was one of the most unusual flavor combinations I've tasted in recent memory. It was fabulous, and the highlight of our meal. We followed the Quim Alves (scrambled eggs with vegetables a Brás style), which sounds deceptively simple. It was anything but—delicate scrambled eggs with finely shredded vegetables and chunks of mushrooms. Heaven. We finished with Gastão Alfacinha (Lisbon style salad), which was a simple, refreshing salad of lettuce, cucumber and peppers with a nicely balanced cilantro vinaigrette, which we greedily sopped up with our bread. For dessert we had D. Isabel, a moist grappa cake with orange custard. It was much lighter and less sweet than I expected, and very delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive. Our server was dismayed that we were staying such a short time in Lisbon and gave us some tips for the next time we're in Portugal. I told her we'll be returning to Lisbon—and Taberna Tosca—soon. HIGHLY recommended.More

I agree with others. Good place for a casual meal, but not upscale if that's what you are looking for. Also, not as good as it was under the previous ownership. Still, worth a midday meal if you're in the neighborhood.
