A very typical little restaurant. The restaurant is small but very friendly, the cuisine is excellent and the price is in line with the average prices in the city. Only a few tables. Frequently visited by local people. Tascardoso is a must, fantastic service, really...nice staff, good wine, great and fresh food, very welcoming. Great value for money. 100% recommend.More

This small restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel for authentic Portugese food. Overall food was tasty and fresh. If you do not speak/read Portugese it is helpful to have translation software available to place food orders. Service was quick, even with the restaurant...being quite busy. Be aware that anything that they bring to your table, you will be charged for it, even if the friendly waiter makes it seem like it is complimentary. If you didn't order or don't want to pay, send the dish away.More

It’s not vegetarian friendly, as lovely as it looks, we walked some distance to find that there were no options beside fish and steak.

I love to go to places that are authentic, but after visiting I would not qualify this restaurant. It was recommended to us by someone in our hotel, so we thought we would give it a try. The items on the table were extra, and...we were not advised of this, not a problem, but I would have probably chosen differently from appetizers on the menu. We were brought fried green beans as well, which we did not order, again i would have chosen something different. The house wine was not as good as we had been tasting and the fish was just okay, the vegetables were delicious. Unremarkable, yet VERY EXPENSIVE for what we received. The very next night we had appetizers we ordered and enjoyed, a bottle of wine(not just a glass each) of delicious wine, main course, split a dessert, one port, and Fado music for the same 60E.More

The guy at our hotel recommended and it was a very good one! A small place (please book in advance..!) but really charming with excellent food and service (the owner is a really great and speak many languages). We came without ordering a table and...while waiting outside for 10-15 min we got this special cherry liqueur...It was a great evening.More

Antonio will pretend to be your best friend until you get seated I understand the act and am fine with it but being ripped of is not OK. Then the food: masterfully cooked salted cod that is way too salted, with this unsalted beans, potatoes...and unsalted greens. Food was perfectly cooked and apparently the salt discrepancy is the way the place does it. Add to that a salad that was very tasty. Service was quite efficient and all requests where attended to promptly. The issues where: as soon as we seated and ordered our meal Antonio switched from best friend to doorknob, he avoided our table and made sure that he gave us the shortest answers when addressed even though the restaurant was almost empty. At this point, I prefer to believe that the change of behaviour was not caused by the fact that we are a gay couple. But the most important: when asked about the 2 charges of food that we didn’t order he was borderline rude, dismissive for sure. That was more than US$10 added to our bill with zero explanation. Visibly the MO of the place is: I will never see these tourists again, hence let me add unordered food to their bill, if they don’t check the bill, great, if they do, too late. The food is good, the service is fine the scam is disgusting. If you want to be ripped off this is the place to go.More

Having been disappointed by so many glowing TripAdvisor reviews for very average restaurants, it's gratifying to say they got it right this time. This is a small family owned establishment up the street in Alto Barrio. What a deal! We paid 37 Euro for sea...bass & grouper w/ veggies & boiled potatoes & 2 wines! Everything was fresh & excellent. This is a restaurant that cares, and actually produces a terrific product. After this wonderful Lisbon dinner, we had a lovely10 PM Walk home downhill.More

I’ve been reading some pretty rude reviews on this restaurant, and let me tell you that this place can’t be hated for any reason. The waiters are extremely kind if you treat them with respect and understand that they aren’t there to only serve your...table but the whole place, it’s small, yes, but the restaurant is packed with people 24/7. You aren’t eating in a fancy place so don’t go in expecting to find someone who serves you wine with white gloves on; All the people that complained about the starters saying “oh we even had to pay it at the end, after he forced us to eat it”, first off use your phones for some decent cause and research what other countries do, this is a thing that happens in all restaurants in Portugal, and second you are free to kindly tell them you don’t want them, no one’s stuffing food in your mouth. Apart from negative people and saying “tourist trap”, this is a great place, the fish is amazing and all the waiters are really kind, the starters are yummy (YES YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU EAT!). 100% recommend : sardinhas, octopus, cod fish and last but not least TARTE DE CHOCOLATE!!!!!More
