The place was nice and quiet and I liked the meal (grilled tuna). Also the dessert was good enough. The bad point is the price: I paid almost 5€ for a glass of the house wine and 5€ for a cheese that they "offered" us (we did not ask for it). It has been unpleasant.

Excellent food, wide range ofchoices including fish and vegetarian dishes, good wines and delightful service. Reasonable prices - that's why we returned to this restaurant. And the tiramisu was mouthwatering!

Local dishes very fresh and well prepared. Good service and good value. We had a lunch of sardines and went back the following day for dinner.

Had a wonderful dinner here and the staff are really friendly and professional. Beautiful high quality food at reasonable prices. Had fresh tuna which was superb! We will hopefully be back again in the not too distant future. Advisable to book at weekends. Highly recommended.

At first we were not convinced, mainly because of the menu in many languages, a sign that generally means the place is a tourist trap. But we were mistaken. The food is excellent and the crowd is local, we do recommend it!

I was looking for a not-for-tourist restaurant in the Barrio Alto. This is a quiet place, basic furniture and very warm personnel. We wanted to have fish for dinner. The tuna was great as well as the cod fish (the famous bacalao) and the anchovies. The apple with cinnamon was absolutely outstanding. I'll come back again very soon! Obrigado!!!

A good choice. The food is Portuguese, nothing fancy, just good, fresh seafood. Start with the cheese and olives, you will love it. The grilled fish was excellent, and the mixed salad fresh. It is a family restaurant and it shows, they make you feel special. The only disappointment : Sunday the restaurant is closed and we missed another good dinner.

Food was simple and tasty with excellent service. The mini cheese and bread to start with is a nice touch (charged separately)

Food was super simple, but done well. Expected more from the house dessert (condensed milk with cookie crumble - was mostly cream) but apparently it's impossible to find so were happy. Great vibe!

This place is one of our favorite in Lisbon. The food is local, fresh and delicious. I had delicious squids. The cheese as appetizer was so good, don't say no to this one! They have a small menu, but to me it was a quality menu. They also have an excellent wine list. The owners are very friendly and the... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
