A great wine bar to visit if you're in the Alfama area. Interior doesn't look like much but the stuff is generous, knowledgeable and excellent at what they do. We wound up trying a white, rosé and two reds, accompanied by cheeses and meats. Complimentary ports at the end, with super considerate waitstaff. Could've spent a day here. Prices very... More

We stopped in for a glass prior to checking out the Castle. So pleased to have done so- our server was so knowledgeable about the areas wines and was great at recommending wines, and offering tastings prior to choosing a glass. Such a great spot; would definitely return.

After reading many reviews I stopped in here during my trip to Lisbon. I'm well versed in wine but didn't know much about Portuguese wine specifically (part of the reason for my trip). I pulled up at the bar, told this to Marcio who was running the place that night and proceeded to learn all about how well vinho verde... More

Fantastic experience from a server (I think the owner) who is very passionate about wine, especially portugese wine and really wants you to share in the experience. Paired cheese really well. Not too expensive.

A good way to discover Portugese wine, in combination with lovely cheese and a selection of great charcuterie. A recommendation

Definitely not worth the stop. Gives new meaning to the phrase "tourist trap". Visited with a friend a few weeks back and was absolutely shocked at the rudeness of the staff. I ordered a budget wine (six euro), which automatically made me a lesser client in the view of the wait staff. When I politely declined to order any food... More

We went here based on the Lonely Planet recommendation and had a perfect evening. They guys who run the place are true wine enthusiasts and at first we thought our server was grumpy with us for asking for the wrong thing (tawny port with cheese just doesn't go, he told us), but it turned out he was just the friendliest,... I do not give 1 star as I guess the wine (which we did not drink) was OK. But not the service. We were told we had to wait even though tables were available, and as other customers proposed to share their table, it seemed to be forbidden! In my opinion the purpose of a wine bar is to congregate...... More

We had a mixed tapas platter which were great and som nice wines to go with it. Staff was friendly and knowledgable. A bit pricey compared to other superb wine bars visited in Lisboa, and as of this the four stars. Experience was a 5 star though.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
