Very nice selection of ports both white and red. Nice cheese, bread and jams. Highly recommended stop on way down from the castle.

A perfect place for a delicious variety of charcuterie and wine before touring the castle. Server was incredibly knowledgeable and took time to show us the different wine regions and ensured we enjoyed our wine selections.

We popped in to get out of the rain and discovered a gem in Lisbon. Amazing meat and cheese plate for 4 people was our lunch? Worth searching out this excellent place. Good food, wine and staff!

We had a lovely evening at the wine bar do Castelo. They have a very wide verity of wine, and they love to teach you about them in a most friendly way and with great expertness. The wine we drank was excellent. We also ate a very good cheeses.

This place is one of the better options for a glass of wine in Alfama. with wooden interior and helpful staff, you will be able to taste local and traditional spirits with logical prices and romantic atmosphere. recommended!

We were here in august, we were a group of 8 guys, aged 20-25. The owner was very friendly and he told us lots of things about wines (douro, alentejo, vinho verde, dao, porto..here you can find everything). Probably the best place where you can take a glass of wine and eat some cold cuts in Lisboa.

On a hot afternoon in September we came across this rather unassuming wine bar. I like port - they served a large variety of ports. My partner liked red wine - they served a large variety of red wines. The sign outside said free tasters - it was a win win situation! The barman was extremely helpful giving plenty of... More

This is a real treat if you're into wine. Just ask for help and let the staff show you around a selection of interesting wines. They speak great English and are generous in giving samples of things you're considering, or just to illustrate how the wine you chose differs from some other wine. We had the cheese plate "for one",... More

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
