Despite the disparaging remarks by some reviewers, this is not a pretentious restaurant but a welcoming venue that presents local wines and food well. We dined in June this year. One of the benefits of TA is the foreknowledge of any interesting differences in a restaurant, thus one is not surprised but prepared to experience the cultural feature and enjoy.... More

Just off the beaten path in a small alley you will find this unpretentious little restaurant. The food is outstanding, the wines are excellent and the staff are most attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates good food away from the tourist crowds.

A restaurant i can highly recommend! Located in a small ally in Belem, with a cosy interior and limited seating (reserving recommended in weekends). Friendly service and super food (the duck was to die for), at reasonable prices. Good wine selection. Would go there again!

1) make a reservation - there are only seats for 14 people and with a very small staff you are going to be there a while 2) food was enjoyable - great presentation. Portion sizes are rather small though. 3) like many places, bread cost is extra. However 3.5 euros seemed a bit over the top. 4) vegetable soup and... More

Visited in 2014 on our honeymoon and it was a highlight of our trip. We went back to Lisbon this year and took some friends so hoped it lived up to what we remembered. Fortunately it was still excellent! The food and wine pairings were great. Would definitely go back

The food was amazing. We were with a friend from Lisbon who introduced us to this lovely place. The food was excellent. I had tuna and my husband had the polvo. Both were amazing as was the dessert. The waiter spoke excellent English and was kind enough to explain the wine characteristics in both languages for our table. I highly... More

The food was very good! The waiter took his time to explain everything in detail. The vine he suggested to the meal was perfectly selected and tasted great. When I come back to Lisbon, I will definitely retun to this place. The only thing I did not understand (unfortunately common in Portugal), it's a restaurant with excellent vines and food... More

We order octopus and it has a terrible taste, maybe they didn't know how to cook octopus and also vegetable cream soup is like a very clear soup with more water than vegetables and no taste. At least they remove from the bill what we didn't eat.

The best meal we had after a week in Portugal. Off the busy street in a quiet alley. Wine service a tad weird--both the table next to us and ours were confused over if we even had our own bottle or were ordering by the glass. I think they mixed our two bottles up and the server realized it. Dessert... More

This quaint wine bar has a reasonable selection of local wines and dishes. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you have to choose the wine and even lets you taste several bottles before making a choice. The dishes where above average : good presentation, good tastes, rather small and sometimes a bit dry. A little bit of sauce... More

Staying in Belem

Neighborhood Profile
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
