We arrived late from London and ditched our bags before walking around the corner to this little bistro by the French embassy. The food was simple but fabulous and Antonio, our host, talked us through the menu with pride before serving olive oils, olives and wines from his village in the north. The food was excellent and our family of... More

This is a beautiful little hole in the wall. The food was excellent - we had the bacalhau and the bife portuguesa. There's no air conditioning so it was pretty hot but we didn't mind. We went early - because we had two little kids - and so got a seat without a reservation. But by 9pm the place was... More

By far the best meal we had In Lisbon, The hostess was very accommodating and presented the menu as a mini lesson which we enjoyed! The ambience was perfect and everything we ate was delicious. I didn't hang around for the bill as I had a Festival to have fun at while my dad paid. It seemed very reasonable though.

This was the best dinner I ate in Portugal! I absolutely loved this dinner. Antonio the owner gave us a warm, friendly welcome and send off. He was really helpful and witty both with the menu and suggesting must see attractions in surrounding areas. He helped me choose a wonderful sardine starter and a beautiful Portuguese shellfish stew. The portions... More

The food is excellent, the service really good and the people there, owner or waiter were absolutely charming. They speak English and French which is helpful as the menu is only in Portuguese.... A must to call ahead and book as this fine establishment is big on great food and wonderful service but small in space. We found the owner to be so warm and inviting. We had a wonderful dinner at the Mandragora Cafe! The staff were very friendly and explained the menu thoroughly. The cheese and meat platter was a great start, and the fish stew was our favorite main dish!

The Madragoa Cafe is a place where you can find a traditional Portuguese cuisine, where the products used are fresh and Portuguese. The predominant wines are from the Douro region, however it is possible to find wines from other regions. The dishes are a selection of some of the best that each region of Portugal has to offer. The desserts are traditional and some are made at the restaurant. The affection with which clients are received, that comes from the heart. See you soon!
