I love octopus, so Portugal is my paradise in this sense also. Many restaurants serve it, but this restaurant served the best octopus I have ever ate. I had a whole octopus on my plate and it was delicious. The service was also great. The waiters were really attentive and I was very satisfied with the waiters suggestion of wine... More

My family and I were looking for a place to eat dinner. Using the wifi at the nearby Starbucks, we found this restaurant through tripadvisor. The food was good, but not particularly exciting. The grilled octopus was too salty for my taste, and I would not recommend it. The lamb chops and the seafood platter were tasty. However, service was... More

We went for lunch, returned for dinner and were pleased. We would come back if in Lisbon again. We noticed this place is popular with locals. We liked our “Sopa Rica Peixe”, “Gambas al Ajillo” and “Robalo”. Bacalhau was not as good as earlier at the restaurant “Pinoquio” close by. Presentation was simple. Service was informal and efficient. We liked... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed! The food was very tasty and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant. The grilled octopus was delightful and fresh and the seafood dish for two was unforgettable. Definitely recommended.

As we walked passed Leao d'ouro on our way to Visit Museo do Carmo, I noticed a sign for happy hour listing 8€ for a pitcher of Sangria and 2€ for a 40cl beer. We decided to return for happy hour and sat out on the patio. The patio is nicely situated in an area great for people watching and... More

The restaurant has a nice look on the inside, with lots of fresh seafood available. I opted for the steak portuguesa, which was a steak cooked with a white wine sauce. It was served with a thin slice of prosciutto and a few veggies, plus house-made chips on the side. The steak was done exactly as I wanted, and it... More

Typical Portugese fish restaurant. Very crowded but we had a reservation. Fish on display at the front entrance. We pointed out the lobster and Shrimps and they made a really perfect zarzuela. Depending what you order they grill on open fire. I recommand this restaurant.

This restaurant is right in front of the rossio train station and from outside it doesn't look anything special. The you get inside and you see aquariums with crabs, lobsters, fish on one side and on the other side ham and meat hanging, the whole place looks like a old market. Staff is incredibly professional and kind. Food was really... More

Restaurant not very busy but atmosphere still nice. Like the decorations. Had cod, really nice! As starter ham. Freshly cut, was good! It's not too expensive, quality justifies the price. €80 for 2 including wine.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
