Okay people a bit of common sense. This restaurant does exactly what it says on the tin! Very good food at an exceptionally good price. Do not expect to be treated like royalty gracing this restaurant but be assured if you order the arroz mariscos it will in all likelyhood be the best meal you will have in Lisbon. The... More

Public is mixed local Portuguese people and Japanese and other tourists. But the owner/chef/waiter couldn't be more Portuguese : an older Portuguese man who doesn't bother being friendly or speak one word of English and one somewhat more friendly man serve you the best arroz mariscos you ever had. You get the impression to be in the most genuine of... More

You shouldn't expect a great, quick, and kind service here since only three elderly people are making and serving foods. But I definitely recommend this place if you wish to have something like homemade foods. I went there very late at night (around 10pm) and they did not accept any new customer to come in. So I went there again... More

Reminds me of the lines outside some restaurants in Hong Kong. There would be a dozen restaurants on a street but only one with a line out the door! Well the mariscos and rice the dish to order when you do get in. It is not to be missed.

I planned a meal down the road at O Arco, but it was closed, so we went into here, as it looked popular so early, and had two tables free. My problem was that I didn't read the reviews, rather i just checked it was four stars on Trip Ad. That meant we didn't order the shellfish rice dish; but... More

We got a big pan of rise with seafood for 4 people. We ate it all :p The place has an old local atmosphere but appropriate enough, don't expect to be delighted by that though! Here's were you should go to have the best rice with seafood at a good quality-price!

First off, the name of this restaurant is actually Uma Marisqueira (meaning shellfish or seafood) and the signature dish of rice and shellfish in a spicy, tomatoey sauce is to die for. There are other things on the menu but just say 'sim' when the elederly waiter asks if that's what you want, because that's what most people come here... More

Just been in, we all wanted to have a simple omelette, salad and French fries, as other people were eating these, but we couldn't as we were told it's only FISH and MEAT several times but omelette is on your menu?????? So we ending up leaving having to pay for some hard bread and strong cheese, nice place, story to... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
