We got to Lisbon late and this was one of the few places we could find still serving food outside late at night. We sat down and the grumpy waiter arrived to begrudgingly take our order. We ordered a local fish stew and a bottle...More

Another lost chance for Lisbon to preserve an historical shop (find my review of Casa do Alentejo). Someone please explain to the owners that respecting and preserving the place does not mean that everything has to remain like it is for ages, including dust and...More

This café offers an experience of a 19th Century place. The food is good, and so are the snacks. The only issue is the slow service. The waiters have perfected the art of looking away whenever you call them. But this hardly diminishes the overall...More

Truly authentic and not as expensive as many say. Great atmosphere. Nice service. Can be busy. Lovely long bar, where people drink / eat standing. Outside and inside so nice! People claim there are 5 iconic Lisbon cafes, but it's only Versailles and Brasiliera (okay:...More

It’s an amazing coffee shop in Chiado neighborhood with outside seating. Perfect place to take a little break/pick-me-up when you are walking around in Chiado or Bairro Alto. Make sure you order their chocolate sponge cake - it melts in your mouth and tastes toot...More

Inadequate and Offensive service. There was not a waiter to be seen for 10 min at the upper outside zone of about 25 tables. When he finally arrived we expressed our dissatisfaction and all he did was to answer rudely and go clear some tables...More

More fuzz than buzz! It is well located but they think they are the best in town and make you feel like it! Coffee was good ... service, well could be MUCH better. We are not doing them a favor walking in and drinking something....More

Brasileira is a landmark in Lisbon, a preferred spot for tourists. This is a good place to have a coffee and spend some time in one of the most crowded spots is Lisbon: Chiado.

I am unfair commenting on this place as somewhere to eat. We only used it for drinks at night on our way back to the hotel. Strange old fashioned place with a lot of character. The staff however are so miserable, you never get a smile...More

Coffee and food both OK, not great. The location, however, is a great place to watch people, mostly tourists. We sat outside and forgot that smoking is allowed so it was difficult to get away from smokers. Still...worth a quick visit. The inside is beautiful.

Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally,
"squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers
plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can
stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its
streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and
viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the
famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa,
having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used
