First, the six songs that night were hauntingly beautiful. The fact we were there for two and a half hours and only heard six songs is sad. The food is terrible and way overpriced as are the drinks. The starter that was "provided" for the table was €8 a head and consisted essentially of olives and stale bread and you... More

We came for Fado and drinks and we were not disappointed. The music was beautiful and the drinks were reasonable.

This is the real deal for checking out the Portuguese phenomenon of fado music, which I understand to be unique to Portugal. We had drinks and listened to nationally famous fado performers. The place has a cool night-club vibe (maybe because it is a night-club). We did not eat here. Service and drinks were great.

One's visit to Lisbon is not complete without the opportunity to hear some Fado. At the Clube de Fado it is all about the quality of what is presented. The musicians are of very high level and the format is such that there is the possibility to see many different interpretations and styles in one night. One of the nights... More

they start the fado show after 10.30pm as we have reserved at 8.30 pm you cannot enjoy fado during your diner. them the show takes place for max 15 min each hour. food price are enormous which could be understandable due the fado show but on the top of that a fado fee of 15 euros is adding on your... Came here for a drink and to listen to some authentic Fado. The singing was amazing, you really felt the emotion, even if you don't understand the words.

Having walked past it during previous trips and heard it in bars etc we thought lets book for our next trip. No idea really what to expect as the building is in a quiet street by the cathedral. If your after a bit of a cultural hit rather than seeing another Tuk Tuk or tram, this is the place. You... More

Reading a different reviews about " bad food " and " indifferent waiters " , I went to this Clube de Fado without much expectation , besides to hear a Fado. However , I could assure anybody who will visit the Clube de Fado without a prejudice that the food , service , atmosphere and especially music are absolutely fabulous.... More

A wonderful experience. Excellent food (grilled octopus in particular) and great fado music. You know you are in a great place for dinner when the restaurant is packed and everyone is having a good time. Reservations are a must.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
