We visited Clube de Fado for an authentic Portuguese experience. The food was O.K. and the entertainment offered us a taste of this form of expression. While I could not understand the Portuguese lyrics, the genuine and emotional expression of the singers was impressive. Overall, good introduction to the traditional dining and cultural experience.

After a couple of unsuccessful attempts my family and I finally found the perfect fado place. The fado singers (there are several taking turns) and musicians were absolutely amazing, which contributed to a very genuine experience. Very good cuisine and atmosphere and very well prepared staff. You do get your money's worth!

We were recommended by the Sofitel in Lisbon. They obviously receive some kind of kickback/commission from the club. The only good thing I can say is that the service was good but everything else including the food was very disappointing. They charge you €7.00 per person cover charge for the most disgusting fried appetisers. The main courses were awful and... More

Good restaurant, but completely overpriced food. 100€ per couple, for 1 dish each, 2 beers and bread... And normal dishes.. Way too much in my opinion. Cause: 95% tourists go there and they take advantage of this. For this amount you can eat like a king in Lisbon Chefs restaurants, some also with fado. Fado quality was ok

Very Good place if you like Fado. Service was good. Tables were a little bit close but, still ok, for some privacy. Food was very good.

Our group of 8 had a delightful evening. Service was great, food was very good (especially steaks), and the music was gorgeous. Gifted and inspired musicians delivering incredibly moving songs. A highlight of our visit to Lisbon.

I visited with my boyfriend and we loved the Fado performances, truly professional level. Romantic. The food was ok, parts were good, parts very average, you are paying for the music.

I enjoyed dinner and the show, The vocalists were emotional and really expended themselves to really sing not only technically strong but also from the bottom of their hearts. I even got emotional with one of the singer's sad song...but I resisted! I just shoveled some delicious food into my mouth and enjoyed the atmosphere. I was sitting at a... More

The entertainment was great! But the food wasn't anything too special. I think you'd be better off finding something a little more authentic.

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighborhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
