This is the coolest place in Lisbon. 3 square meter of pure authenticity. Grab a Bifana and a beer or Vinho Verde from the tap. Step outside into the sun and enjoy the best pork sandwich of Lisbon. It was so good I went back...for a second one. In my opinion it's much better then the famous 'O Trevo' from Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation. Don't miss this !More

Really good bifanas. It was a Short stop before visiting other places in Lisboa but after eating the first BIFANA, in 2 hours we were back to eat another one. Big like for this family business. Delicious food and beer :)

A quick bifana sandwich with some very spicy piri piri sauce along our walk between Alfama and Chiado. We stayed long enough to have a quick beer and watch a fresh batch of the pork being prepared and start to cook. This is a tiny...little diner.More

This is another spot discovered through research that turned out to be oddly close to our hotel. It is a small (tiny) lunch counter filled with locals (lots) and people strolling by. It is a bit of a "known" spot so it can be busy....In nice weather you can sit in the plaza it overlooks. You want to have a bifana with cheese and mustard, and they are inexpensive at a couple of euros. One could easily lead to two. (One bifana, two bifani?)More

This is the best sandwich!!! It is very simple sandwich but really really delicious!Place is small so you do not have an enough space to eat. People squeeze each other lol however atmosphere is interesting and food are amazing. This was second time visit and...we will come back again before we leave Lisboa.More

True, bifanas (sandwiches) out there are great given their 2.5€ price. Other dishes (squids, soup...) are standard, while staff is just too busy to be nice with tourists and only focuses on satisfying locals.

The place is quite small and the owner is not the most talkative but you can notice the delicious smell from the street. If you go in, no regrets, the bifanas are so tasty and cheap that you would want to repeat.

Although As bifanas do Afonso would be easy to miss due its size and understated storefront, you'll regret not popping in for their Bifanas that are extremely fresh and almost too good to be true for the price.

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply

earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its

Yes, 'eating in' is not easy with this restaurant. It tends to be standing room only as it is a tiny establishment
