Our hotel recommended this restaurant. The ambiance was trendy and still had traces of the original architecture. Think vaulted ceilings with exposed brick. In the 1200s this place was a university which then was purchased by a wealthy family. After a fire broke out in the 1700s the place was destroyed until later purchased and restored. Now onto the food... More

Restaurant is located in Bairro Alto and it is not an easy walk, considering the streets of Lisbon. Our party of 4 was placed near a larger table, and in the beginning we had difficulties to hear each other, but after receiving their food our neighbors relaxed and we all had a pleasant evening with friends, and enjoyed the experience.... Restaurant was suggested by our hotel personnel and didn't disappoint generally. Getting there was an experience in itself as it is located in Bairro Alto. Lively atmosphere and good food with two exceptions: Mojitos are served like some high glass lemonade that are not acquainted with the rum and the lamb chops were disappointing both in meat cuts and grilling.... On the recommendation of the staff of the Lisboa Carmo Hotel we had dinner at the Sacramento. Great advice. Meals was outstanding as was the service. Relaxing atmosphere.

What a great find. We did not have a reservation, but the very friendly hostess was happy to accommodate us, promising a table in 30 minutes. While we waited in the lounge area, we ordered wine from Martino the bartender -- who proceeded to open several bottles and share tastings of his favorites with us. Very knowledgeable and clearly passionate... More

Set downstairs in what appeared like an old renovated cellar the setting was very good and provided a good ambience for an evening. Pre-dinner drinks are set in a nice bar and thankfully when they tell you that your table will be 20 minutes it actually is! Having said all of this my view is that the quality of the... More

For our second night in Lisbon we asked out concierge for a recommendation. He advised his personal favourite was Sacramento. We just got in with our booking and otherwise it was booked out. Well we were not disappointed. The service was great and the food amazing with a great variety of traditional Portugese dishes each looking more fantastic than the next,... More

We were in Lisbon for 6 nights total and this restaurant was our best meal hands down. Very attentive and gracious servers, AMAZING food, and for a very reasonable price. The desserts are especially delectable. Make a reservation or go early because they book up.

We had our final meal at Sacramento. While there is no outside seating the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had the lamb chops which were so flavourful and my husband had the grilled octopus. For desert you must have the pears in Porto. We also had the chocolate dipped strawberries.

The Sacramento is without doubt the restaurant at the end of the universe (And if you haven’t read the book, it’s maybe time you did). I have never been so genuinely well looked after in a restaurant. No pretence, genuine customer care from the FOH Maitre D, who remembered me from last time and was simply lovely, to the sommelier... Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
