To eat in this building is truly a privilege it is so unusual. For me the food was okay but nothing that unusual. I had the mushroom starter and they were clearly tinned! I thought the dishes were overpriced for what they were.
The place was probably very beautiful in the past. Nowadays it is kind of old with bad maintenance. Food was very regular, to be honest, did not have much taste at all. Service was ok. Probably will not come back.
Amazingly decorated place, a hidden gem through an anonymous door. Unfortunately the service was almost as bad as the food. We chose the three cheese starter and the chunks of dry cheese matched the dry crunchy pieces of bread... For the main course we had...More
Nice restaurant. Lovely building and decor. Food was OK. The waiter who was serving was good and attentive but he was rushed off his feet. There were two other waiters standing doing nothing at all. We gained the attention of one of them... His response...More
A bit complicated to find the right place as there are different establishments in the delightful entrance space. the restaurant in the upper floor again has different rooms and spaces with paintings and decorations of a past époque. We were a big group with a...More
The place is a bit hidden and hard to find. It has restaurant and tavern. We went to the tavern and it was so so. Sangria was good but the food not really amazing, just so so, mushrooms were great. Migas were bland. Scrambled egg...More
The location is really great. From the entrance and patio up to the main dining hall, characterised by elegance and splendor in very different styles. Unfortunately the food was one of the worst I have ever had. We had pre-ordered a vegetarian option and we...More
This was recommended in Rick Steves guidebook. The entry is unassuming but once inside you know you are in for a special evening. Fabulous buildings with several rooms plus an informal bar with tapas. Helpful waiters but spotty service (they seemed better with Portuguese speakers)...More
The building deserves a visit; the dinning rooms are very interesting and the service is acceptable. Food is not what one would expect from the name of the Restaurant: they serve dishes from Alentejo but the flavour is not quite as is should be.

Standard lunch and dinner time. The times I have been there, it was without reservation. But if it is a group, you will be better advised to make one in peak times in weekends or because of special celebrations (anytime I have been there it has been possible to have dinner or lunch without it). However, I do not see any problems about crashing into it, without reservation. There are two restaurants, the more elegant in the first floor and the canteen in the basement, both are fine. It is una "Casa Regional", it is a cultural association of members of one particular region of Portugal, this is Alentejo. It works more like a cultural centre with special activities for members, but the courtyards and restaruants have free access

The pricing is intermediate, service is very friendly and food more than decent with huge quantities. The atmospheric restaurant room is with azulejos makes this place so special that I went twice over 3 days.
