very friendly staff, very good mussels! Nice gin variety. We roamed around and none of the other restaurants seamed to convince us, but as we stumbled across this little place we hit the jackpot! if you come in cascais you should consider dining here

Mondays are difficult in Cascais because many restaurants are closed! Make reservations especially for Monday’s. They were nice enough to seat us without reservations. The menu is Mussels with French Fries or pasta (no sauce). If you don’t like Mussels, this is not the place...for you! We love mussels and this restaurant exceeded our expectations! My husband ordered the special that day - mussels in a Gruyère cheese, onion and cream sauce - it was amazing. I ordered the lemongrass ginger and it was very tasty. The mussels were very fresh, plump and perfectly cooked (not over done or undercooked) The portions were huge! I think we got 30 mussels each, with a “bucket” of French Fries that I definitely couldn’t finish. Great service as well.More

Nice moules restaurant in Cascais. Lot of choices with reasonable price. Very popular, so table reservation recommended.

Moules et Frites is a traditional Belgian dish made of mussels and french fries. It is a popular dish in Belgium. Did you know there is a quaint little restaurant in the heart of Cascais, Portugal serving this Belgium delight throughout the day and evening?...Moules and Gin is not hard to find. Situated up a small hill, it is located within a five-minute walk from Cascais Train Station. They do not close during the day so come when you like. They have both inside and outside dining. We visited around 6: 00 PM on a Saturday night and chose to eat inside. The restaurant becomes full at 8 pm. So reservations are strongly recommended. The restaurant plays great soulful music and is bright and cheery. It's not loud, and one can enjoy an intimate conversation together. The service was top notch and is very friendly. Each of the staff knew their menu and gins very well. We had a wonderful server named Sarah who recommended all kinds of delicious mussels and gins to try. If you enjoy Gin, you will enjoy the selection that awaits you. Since they carry so many top-shelf gins, they offer your Gin and tonic with either a half dose or full dose of Gin. Schweppes is the tonic of choice here. Some of the available gins are Hendricks, Tanqueray no 10, Sipsmith, Bulldog, and three kinds of Martin Miller, Shardish, Nordes, and more. The prices are great! The full dose of Hendricks is €13, and the half dose is €7. What I like about the half-dose shots is that it allows one to sample many different gins in a night without getting too silly. We started the dinner with Moules gratin with cornbread and cilantro for €7. I have never had mussels before, so I was in for a treat. Out came what looked like Lasagna. After a few minutes of cooling down, I dove in. I scooped out the mussel covered in layers of different cheeses, and was overjoyed! My taste buds were delighted! From there, I ordered Moules à Bulhão Pato for €14. This was a big bowl of mussels served in a broth of coriander, olive oil, and garlic. I loved how the garlic was not minced but sliced. After eating all the mussels, I grabbed the fresh bread and butter and soaked up the broth. It was just like heaven! The mussels are fresh from The Algarve. They serve the mussels with many different flavors. There's Moules Pesto with basil sauce, pine nuts, and parmesan cheese, Moules Curry with Mango and Curry. For meat lovers, there are Steaks, and of course, they serve dessert as well. I will be making this a frequent night out every month. It's the perfect evening to look forward to. The food is delicious and fun. It's an easy vibe to enjoy and converse with friends and family. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and they look after you very well. Why not enjoy a taste of Belgium when you are here in Portugal? I would highly recommend Moules and Gin. See more food reviews of Lisbon and Cascais Portugal on our Youtube Channel - @tourabungaMore

Just came back from a dinner visit. Ordered mussels a bulhao pato (ok), beef cubes (ok) and Sharish (the only Portuguese gin still available and other gins like bulldog, Hendricks or Roku you can find in every decent bar.) Service is ok maybe staff can...get a bit too chatty. Atmosphere is basic but clean. Overall, an ok casual joint, nothing particularly good or bad, just average. If you chance to be in the neighborhood ready for a casual non expensive meal (we paid €63 for two gins, 2 small sparkling water, one mussel pot and the steak cube) it’s a decent option but I would not go seeking this out if I am not nearby - frankly there are plenty good options in town.More

Lovely staff, lovely background music and the food fantastic. Had the platter with salmon tartare, tuna tartare and mussel vinaigrette for Starters, followed by the Moules Thai for Mains. All washed down with a Hendricks Gin. Perfect

Moules and Gin has been a reference in Cascais since its opening, serving high quality food based on "Moules". Yesterday evening, during dinner, we were served the worst mussels I ever had in my life. Badly cooked and some ( 1 in each 3 )...had a strong taste of ammonia. Our complains were not listen and just a small "sorry" from the waitress was all we were able to get... Many of us refused to eat and others kept on spiting chewed mussels after getting a terrible taste in their mouths. Today and during the night both me and my wife were sick and vomiting as result of this terrible experience...Once a reference of gourmet food, today a risky place where you can get poisoned.More

Some of the best mussels we have ever had, and we eat a lot of mussels. Fries were great. The gin and tonics are top quality too. Food prices are very reasonable. Gin and Tonics are a bit more, but in line with what others...charge. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient.More

We loved Moules and Gin when we lived here in 2018 and it has only gotten better. With all of the outdoor seating it is awesome. The Mussels and service are great and being able to enjoy the weather in Cascais makes it even better.

We loved this simple restaurant. The staff were super efficient and very friendly. The choice of sauces to accompany the moules and frites was phenomenal and there was an excellent selection of gins.

My first few visits to M&G were excellent but I was disappointed on this occasion, tiny mussels compared to other establishments in Cascais. It has lost a bit of style which is a pity
