An amazing experience. Delicious, elegant food prepared with pristine ingredients served in a wonderful atmosphere in a small village near Cascais.

Worst New Year's Eve dinner I've ever had. We visit quite a few fine dining restaurants all over the world, so we have an idea about an understandable multi-course chef's meal. But in this case, after four hours!!! We left this nightmare, hungry without even...finishing our dinner. After reading the rave reviews I chose this restaurant. Oh my, how terrible it was. We arrived at 20:15. At 20:45, since no food arrived at the table, we asked for bread. They gave everyone one slice even without butter. At 21:00 we asked for bread with butter ..... 45 minutes after we sat down at the table we received bread with butter. In the meantime, a couple sat down next to us (probably friends of the owner) who had already received the first course....while we are still waiting. Finally, an hour after we sat down, we received the first course with a poor explanation regarding what was served to the table. During the meal we received horrible dishes. The Razor shell dish was with sand. One of the dishes had the hair of someone from the restaurant staff. My tiny fish dish was with fishbone. Lack of uniformity of portions. The chicken dish was horribly salty. Towards midnight when finally (after four hours!!!! ) we were supposed to get to dessert they stopped the service, poured "champagne" .... it is more correct to say sparkling wine without asking us if it is suitable for us. At this moment we broke for good. We asked for the bill (after we had already paid 60% in advance) but they refused to charge us for the remaining 40% and the wine. Apparently it's a generous act ... but since the profit on the wine is usually three times and the profit on the food has already been paid in advance, they seemingly made a gesture but in reality they ruined our New Year's Eve. Needless to say, the condescending and unprofessional behavior of the chef's wife was laughable when she clumsily tried to entertain the diners and solve the service problem. Apparently the positive reviews are from the owner's friends. Otherwise there is no explanation for bad food and service of this restaurant. Terrible evening, if it was possible to put zero stars on this place (you can't call this place a restaurant) we would do it. Bottom line, my long review cannot express our frustration and disappointment with this horrible place. Don't be tempted by the positive reviews. Probably they belong to their friends and people on their behalfMore

I didn't have time to do this review after my holiday but the meal was so incredible I made a not to make sure I didn't forget. WOW! We booked this restaurant just before peak season and it just so happened that the other 2...tables booked in that night cancelled last minute. Rather than disappoint us they gave us a night to remember, just our table in their magnificent restaurant. We had our 4 year old son who LOVES eating out and they were happy to do him small tasters from the menu. The food was exceptional and the service and wine selection was an absolute joy. This was without a doubt the best dining experience of our holiday, I would fly back to Cascais just for this restaurant. Thank you to all of the team xMore

A pearl in Cascais. Amazingly constructed menu with a great progression starting in the ajo blanco with prawns, finishing in a decadent brioche with cocoa, peanuts and broad beans. The pigeon dish is just spot on, tender, juicy and absolutely a treat for your taste...buds. Definitely a place to go for an amazing food, excellent service, great location.More

Wow! Here it’s proven once again that Spanish chefs are the best. The portions are small but that allows you to taste a lot and believe me, that’s exactly what you want to do! Each dish is a flavor bomb with a perfect balance of...ingredients. You can create your own degustation menu as they can serve half portions of almost every dish. We put together 8 courses of enjoyment and that is certainly doable! A Must do in Cascais!More

In the little village of Areia, beside cascais Quinta da Marinha is this outstanding restaurant with top chef Txabi and his wife running the show. This is high end, innovative cuisine using the best seasonal ingredients. There are few places in Cascais where you can...eat like this. Best is to go with a menu based on what the chef recommends ( just make sure to tell him what you don’t like). For the quality you get it is good value. Few tables so reserve in advance. Good wine list.More

We have eaten here 5 or more times in the past year and it is truly outstanding - I would say the best in Cascais. The small plates / starters are all excellent and both the fish and meat mains are wonderful. Vera is amazing...and all aspects of service are first class, including wine recommendations. It has several tables outside and the inside tables are very distanced with good ventilation, so it feels safe in the current crisis. To deliver this quality so consistently at such a price point is amazing.More

Casa Davolta was a most pleasant surprise in Cascais. Off the beaten track and, thankfully, a world apart from the sea of sameness found on the menus of most restaurants by the seaside. Excellent techniques by the young Spanish chef, Javier, and smooth and very...effective while unobtrusive service by his Portuguese partner, Vera, at the table. Good quality ingredients, creative recipes and overall a rewarding and pleasing gastronomical experience. Excellent value for money and amazing flexibility to accommodate one of our friends who does not eat garlic. We will be back for more discoveries.More

This was our fourth visit to the restaurant. A great experience as always. The food was just great. There is room for improvement in the ambiance/acoustics, but the relation quality-price is unbeatable.

The restaurant is owned by a couple, Vera and Javier. It caught my attention when I read the critic in Time Out. I am always looking for a good experience and decided to have a go. Vera greeted us with a warm smile. The room...is bright, the tables simple and we were explained that they worked with seasonal products. The menu is not extensive. Now, the food. We tried a starter and divided two fish dishes. Before that, bread from Gleba, butter and two amuse bouche. Superb. A slight taste of salt stays in our mouth. To finish, deserts and tea. I recommend the chocolate desert, which is amarvelous way to finish a great meal. As for the bill, it was well worth the price. Javier was at the door to thank us for the visit. Well done Javier and Vera. We will be back for sure to try all the other disches.More

It started with a very warm welcome from Vera. She explained the menu to us and gave us great recommendations about food and wine paring. The food is ridiculously good. Javier, the chef, uses local ingredients and transforms it into something which got our taste...buds dancing!! I would definitely recommend going to Casa Davolta. Unfortunately the Cascais area, with a very few exceptions, does not have any top notch, top quality, creative cooking restaurants. Here is a young couple (husband and wife) that have decided to attack this with creative and delicious creations at a fair price. Fish, meats...and game on the menu now. Wonderful bread and flavoured butter. Wine list is very good with decent prices. Actual restaurant decoration could be improved from its current cold and odd coloured decoration, but we went there to eat and we were not disappointed. As one friend said as we left the restaurant "this chef knows how to cook". A rare find in Cascais, and one we should all support.More

Casa Davolta is a much needed addition to the restaurant scene in Cascais. This restaurant should soon replace Conceito as the number ONE restaurant in the area. Everything was perfect when we had lunch there today. We wish Javier and Vera every success.
