Unexpected surprise

Stopped here after visiting the monestry,its very close and well placed, very good service big thumbs up 👍 to Antonio our waiter(who speaks multiple languages) ...serving all of the outside tables by himself...we both had a main course of pasta ....bread, olives, wine .....and coffee ...minus one point as canned drinks are €2.95 , bread €1.50 and olives €1.60 ....well over priced , I would recommend a visit here

We stopped here for a coffee after visiting the monastery and adjacent church; it has a great view of both being right on the square. There seems to be just one person taking orders and making the drinks so if it was busy we'd guess you'd have a long wait, luckily it was quiet. We paid EUR6.60 for 2 latte coffees and 2 Portuguese tarts; good value, and they accept Visa!

We chose this restaurant on the square by feel, the weather was uncertain and cold, this place looked inviting and felt good to enter. Seated immediately, professional service! I had an excellent Tuna Salad (perhaps the best I've had so far in Portugal), my wife had Chicken salad, unique with fruit mixed in, also tasty. Good house wine. We ordered a side of chips ( our weakness) which were fabulous. The clientele was a mixture of local business people and visitors to Batalha. Fair price, Excellent service. There is a pride and teamwork here that we would all be fortunate to experience.

Good for a quick meal, fantastic view of the Monastery

Although Pap Oliva is located in a very touristic square, right in from of the big Monastery from Batalha, it is good for a quick meal as a pit stop after the visit. The food is not great but quite fair so I would go for small bites or a sandwich while appreciating the view. Service is correct and waiters are courteous. The price is very reasonable for what you get

Great shrimp pasta and bracheta; veggie soup needed more veggies

We stopped here for lunch before visiting the monastery. I got the shrimp and mushroom spagetti and like it; the wife got bracheta (which was bigger than she expected) and vegetable soup (which she said needed more vegetables). We also got some ice cream cones (good flavor) and almond treats to go (which were sweet and not much flavor). The total for all that was 20 euro.

Quaint little gem

Stopped in for a late lunch. We weren't very hungry so just ordered chicken soup and bruschetta. The way we tore into the soup you would have thought it was a delicacy. It was just rich with flavours. Not expensive and great service.

quick meal but very tasty and filling

we didn't have a lot of options at the batalha monastery aside from cold sandwiches, so we tried this place. we had only an hour to go to the monastery so ordered and lucky food came fast. food was warm and filling and tasty. so happy to have a nice green salad with tomato and red onions and pesto and olive oil - a bit more character . goodd food

Very good place for lunch

Wondering around Batalha at lunch time, we saw there are many people seating inside so we decided to try it. First, restaurant was very clean. Second, service was very fast and waiter was very informative about menu. We ordered his recommendation and did not regret.Food was very good, fresh and well cooked. Third suprise came with a bill. Price was really cheap for such quality and quantity. So, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious Pastries

We arrived here at 5pm, and the kitchen was closed. So we had to settle for some patries, drinks and freshly squeezed orange juice... all delicious. Service is extremely efficient. But the best part is its location in front of the monestary. It's in a large square overlooking the monestary, and a great place for people watching.

Strong on pizzas and pastas, but they also have other options. Our pastas were tasty and not the sort of a-couple-of-spaghetti-strands-on-your-plate. Good, quick service; good prices, too. I'd recommend it if you're in the area and not in the mood for the more "regional" kind of things.

On the square opposite the monastery. Eaten there twice and both meals were good. Cod fish was nice although a bit stodgy. Only cup of tea that resembled anything like that in UK. Deserts were fresh and there were lots of choice. Our waiter spoke very good English and was very attentive.

Easy going meal

On the square aside the impressive monastery, we enjoyed a tasty easygoing lunch. Nice prawn salad, well-baked pizza and very good grilled cheese macaroni.

Touristy place with average qualIty food

the nice view of the monastery was the best thing about our lunch The pasta was clearly pre-cooked, the only thing fresh about the sauce was probably the freshly opened jar from which it came. Little to no seasoning.... Either the cook had a bad day or someone was standing in but this was not a very nice meal. Not to be recommended.
