Best Italian restaurant in Coimbra. I start going there when I was just a kid and after 20 years, the quality is the same. For me, it has the best pizzas in town with average prices. The room is nice as well as the employes.

Cosy place (not many tables available), the pizzas are quite cheap (and good), as usual the more expensive part are the starters/drinks/desserts. One of the oldest pizzerias in town, and surely one of the best. Recommended!
It is an Italian restaurant with a good choice of pizzas and "pastas". It also offers a limited number of Italian main dishes (mainly pork and veal dishes). The food is good but not very exciting, with exception of the spaghetti with vegetables and the...vegetable lasagna that are excellent. It is a good restaurant for families. The prices are reasonable It is located in a residential neighborhood, a little away from downtown, and thus it is convenient to have a car or take a taxi to reach the restaurant.More
Dear Customer, Thank you for visiting us and comment on us. We are very pleased to see you appreciated our veg pastas. Looking forward to see you again in a near future, Toscana
Toscana is easily the best pizza place in the urban area of Coimbra. There's literally no doubt about it and you can't go wrong with it. Other options also seem good but the love they put into making a pizza is tasteable.
Dear Customer, Thank you for so effusive comment. We really appreciate it. Our pizzas will be tasty out of our wood hoven from Monday to Saturday, 12h to 14h30 and 19h to 22h30. Looking forward to receiving you again, Toscana
pizzas are great, with a thin base. Sometimes employees have a slowly attendance to the costumer. Although, it is a restaurant you must try
Esteemed client, Thank you for your comments. It pleases us to have our pizzas quality recognized by our clients. We will do our utmost to improve our response time to service. I look forward to seeing you once again in Toscana, Regards, Toscana
I lived in Rome so I am quite critical with Italian food.... This is not a superb restaurant in my opinion, but deserves an average mark.More
Dear Carolina, Appreciated your comment and review. I visit Italy regurlarly and just been in Rome and Naples this October. Of the many good things Italians do offer some we can easy import to Portugal, some others not. We also did not import the so...More
I would say Toscana´s food could be defined as Italianese , a creative mix of Italian and Portuguese cuisine . Nice smells come from the kitchen as soon as you enter and the owners always make you feel welcome . The atmosphere is great ,...the staff is nice and gentle and personally I like the creativity of the owners . It was recommended by an Italian friend and I am grateful for such good recommendation . Despite being away from the city centre it is definitely worth trying .More
Dear Customer, Spot on! We are definitely a Portuguese restaurant with a strong inspiration in Italian cuisine. It please us a lot to have your recognition and valuable comment. We look forward to receiving you once again, Best regards, Toscana
Toscana overall has an admittedly pleasant feel, however our last dinner there turned out to be somewhat disappointing. Their menu is quite ambitious with lots of pretentious (some may say inventive?) names. It manages to combine Italian pizzas with Portuguese 'bacalhau com natas', veal Zurichoise...(!) and escalope Bismarck. Having decided to stick with the Italian food, we ordered the 'normal' and vegetarian lasagne and a spaghetti amatriciana. When the food arrived, lasagnas were watery and largely tasteless. Pasta in amatriciana was irreparably overcooked, while the sauce had not a single spicy note in it. The list for desserts appeared promisingly extensive: from tiramisu to vodka sorbet, ice-cream, panna cota and apfel strudel. Yet the variety was deceptive: all they had was different sorts of ice-cream, the strudel and the misterious Toscana caprice (which turned out to be a caramel petit gateau with -- surprise! - some more ice-cream). The food was served under the general accompaniment of some 'oldies' radio station, which seemed like a strange choice for an Italian pizza restaurant. Admittedly, starters in Toscana have managed to make up for the overall disappointment -- the colourful salad and a cheese/meat plate was great, still had little to do with Italy. Ironically, we were forced to conclude that this pizzaria cannot do Italian food.More
Dear Customer, Thank you for your visit and your comment. I notice your expectations were not met, although they also seem somehow misled to start with. Toscana is a Swiss/Italian inspired restaurant, although the Portuguese food culture runs in the core and soul of Toscana....More
Toscana has a "family restaurant" vibe. It lives up to the vibe, providing a cosy atmosphere for a meal with adequate prices. Its main theme is Italian cuisine, with an heavy focus on pizza and meat dishes, which are usually accompanied with fried polenta. The...pizza is not overcrowded with ingredients and they have some classic selections available. In the meat dishes part of the menu there seems to be a lot of selection, although only some small variations (e.g. different sauce, different vegetables). The staff is friendly and the service is fast enough. The decoration borders on the rustic, with some corny, out of place elements. Good for a lazy Saturday or Sunday.More
Dear Customer, Thank you for your visit and positive feedback. We look forward to receiving you again, Best regards, Toscana
I'm sorry to say so, the atmosphere is great, and service is absolutely nice and gentle ..... but if you employ the term Pizza, to me, you enter a sacred semanticall area. That's not pizza, it's very simple... BUT ! If you're not italian, and...you don't know what pizza is ... you might enjoy !More
Definitely above average quality, the secret of this family run eatery is that they grow on their farm organically all vegetables served in the restaurant. The theme is italian cuisine but there are some other relevant additions like the extremely well achieved portuguese "bacalhau com...natas". The pizza is baked in a wood oven and is as thin and crispy as you can imagine. And if you don't know what to order from the menu just ask the owner, Americo, to choose for you. That is a sure bet! On the desserts chapter do not miss by any means the tiramisu, the best I've ever tried and I've been dozens of times to Italy! This restaurant is a hidden gem in Coimbra, welll worth the small detour (1,5 km) from downtown.More
