I’m single and often dine alone. I’m almost always treated like I’m invisible, given a bad table, asked to sit at the bar etc. I’m seldom treated like a real person. But this was a new low. My hotel had made a reservation. My table...was next to the bathroom. Of course. A server came. Dropped a menu. He came back. No question about the menu allowed. Took my order. Another person dropped off my food. I had a small bucket of utensils. No fork. I had no service so after 10 minutes I got up and flagged someone down. My food was cold. I wanted another glass of wine. Nope. No service. Ignored the whole meal. I had to tackle someone to get my check. They brought the wrong check. A disaster. The sad part - the food was good. But atrocious service. The large party with a screaming baby got good service.More

We got to Tasca das tias at 20h30 without a reservation, there was a few min discussion between the employees which looked like one of them didn’t want to give us a table, even though it was available. It took I’d say 20 min for...the waiter to get out order, and we felt rushed while ordering, the meals that we wanted were not available and the waiter pointed out that the matured meat was not available even though we saw another table that ordered after us get it a bit later. We were waiting for a long time to get our starter (croquetes) when we saw a table that got to the restaurant after us get the same starter. Turns out our meal was not ordered to the kitchen. We started to eat more than 1h after seating. The croquete was fine but we expected more. The mains were actually really good, fillet mignon was perfect, buttery and tasty. For dessert we got tradicional d.amelia which was fenomenal and a home made chocolate mousse which was also good. In summary: food was really good but service was terrible, in the end the waiter that got our ordered apologized but overall bad service that night, we had some staff that went to our table and didn’t talk at allMore

I am a solo traveler. The service was really nice and the menu was great. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. I had shrimp with a few beers. I felt comfortable being solo

It was tough to find a place open on Sunday afternoon, especially during Carnaval, but I took my chance, as I have an early flight in the morning. They had no problem accommodating a solo diner and the place was packed. Hostess and server were...very patient with my limited Portuguese.....they spoke English but allowed me to take my time attempting Portuguese. I didn't want a proper meal, so I ordered two appetizers, the mixed cheese plate with Sao Jorge cheese and black pig ham, and the rump croquette. All were awesome. It was very busy and the employees seemed happy....something you rarely see in the states! Highly recommend.More

One of those places where you wonder why the owners stay in the restaurant trade if they have so little fun and pride in doing what they‘re doing. There were very few places open on a Sunday night in January, so we were grateful to...find something, but it was pretty depressing. We had the local meat stew in the hope that they couldn‘t do much wrong, and it was fine. But we were in and out in an hour. Maybe it‘s better in the summer, but otherwise only go here as a last resort.More

Solid menu and great service, great atmosphere. The dishes are a bit small and may not always meet everyone's idea of a good match for the price tag but overall a great place to hang out, drink and eat

Within 40 minutes we’ve had an apetizer and our main course finished, it was a race against the clock… We ordered a shrimp pasta with sun-dried tomatoes. The shrimps were all over-cooked and very dry. Not to mention that the intestines were NOT removed. Next...to that we had 1! Small piece of sun-dried tomato in the whole pasta… When we mentioned this at the waiter, they told us the cook in the evening wasn’t the same as the one for lunch 😒 Big tourist trap!More

This place is simply the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. We had a reservation for 930 pm, got seated at 1030pm, without any apology whatsoever, and got our food past midnight…. No apology from the staff or the manager, and when...I asked the manager for the discount on our bill, we got the most rude and cruel answer, to the extent that he said that we should not be there in the first place, that it was his own restaurant, and he did not care about any feedback. His random buddy intervened and called me an idiot for showing displeasure with the service. Absolutely ridiculous and horrendous place! Don’t waste your time and money!More

On the recommendation of our guide, we had lunch here to try their local specialties. Our group of four adults shared a charcuterie board with dried pork sausages and cheeses from Terceira, São Jorge and Pico; Alcatra (braised beef in spices); fried hake; local Donatario...white wine; and Dona Amelia cake (a cornmeal-based gingerbread). Everything was fantastic, especially the beef and the cake (both Terceira specialties).More

Although this restaurant was packed when I arrived, they made space for me (as a solo diner), which is much appreciated. They allowed me to dine at my pace and made me a great gin and tonic. It was always easy to catch one of...the friendly staff's eye to order when I wanted more food and glasses of wine, which were all very well priced. I don't really eat meat, but was persuaded to try their fillet mignon, as I haven't yet tried Azorean beef. Went in Rome and all that, and I was glad I did. Definitely worth a visit!More

Definitely go to this fantastic restaurant right in the center of the action in Angra. Wines by the glass are very reasonably priced and quite good. The €24 fillet mignon is fantastic. The one I had was paired with garlic butter and a beautiful tomato...salad. You can get some rock salt on the side. Definitely request what they call the boiled sweet potatoes instead of french fries. They are more like a delicious roasted sweet potato and are vastly better than french fries with such a beautiful fillet. Our very kind waiter, Duarte, made the experience quite enjoyable and fun. Really a cozy, festive atmosphere inside the restaurant, also! The only downside would be that there are no green salads available at this restaurant if you are in the mood for that. Definitely reserve in advance.More

We stayed in Terceira for four days and had great meals. This restaurant was the exception. While the servers did their best and were responsive, the food was not good. Two of us ordered vegetarian past that included cold and not cooked well pasta and...hardly any vegetables; the pasta with shrimps was not better and the vegetables soup was much too salty. Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere.More

We ate at Tasca das Tias to celebrate Mother's Day. They were able to seat all 11 in our family at one table and even got the Celtics game on a TV for us! Our group was very impressed with everything from the food to...the service to the ambiance. I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant!More

On an Easter weekend when many places were closed, this restaurant did an outstanding job on it's seafood. After a delicious order of clams that tasted of the sea, I had the tuna. It came with one huge thick piece seared on the outside and...nearly raw inside, with two other smaller 'tails" that were well done but still quite moist. There must have been over a pound of tuna on the plate, with various pieces done different degrees to please virtually any palate. The accompanying sweet potatoes were also very nice.More
