We lucked out getting in here in the middle of the day (I say this because if you want to go on a Friday or Sat night I think you better get a reservation). Our waiter was so friendly and happy to speak English, he helped us decide what to order by just talking to us. It was not an issue at all that I wanted dairy free food. Even though it was swimming in olive oil it was an absolutely delicious cod and salt potatoes dish!! Our other meal was tuna, beautiful and great too, special. The place has a dark wine cellar feel with some windows by the counter, I just loved the atmosphere. We wanted to go again... When we tried to go back it was packed and pretty raucous with groups of people laughing, it looked so fun!! Next time.

The food at A Tasca is local and very tasty. I had amazing Octopus, Sardines and the Blood Sausage Appetizers. I've never had Blood Sausage before but it was very flavorful but very rich. I ordered wine - I only had one glass and was tired of waiting to try to get another glass. I went at an off-peak time so the restaurant was not busy. I cannot fathom what the service must be when it is very busy. Alas, I may have experienced lackluster service on an off-day, so I would consider giving it another chance to try more of the dishes. I'll just know to order a bottle from the start.

Not to be missed when in Ponta Delgada. Great seafood and meat choices. Try the Lapas Grelhadas....they were tender and juicy. Our Tuna was also fresh and excellent. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations and it is a popular restaurant. If you don't get there for dinner when it opens (7pm) you will have to wait and 45 minutes to an hour is not unusual.

Lovely place in a quiet hidden corner in the old town. Service was nice and informative, wine gentle and a very lovely local Stout. But the food was a bummer. The local cabbage soup was okay, but the 'house' clams were so overcooked that I thought I was eating chewing gum in a not too bad sauce of butter, parsley and white wine. The tuna belly was overcooked, served with something cabbagy, yammy, and a disgusting emulsion with mustard, yellow curry and probably turmeric. We were not tempted to check out dessert. Check please....

I have been here twice and wow I guess I didn't learn my lesson the first time. They have vegan options posted on their menu outside of the entrance, but once you finally get in after probably waiting up to two hours you will see most of it is crossed out on their actual menu. Here is the best part though, both times that i went they were out of the vegan option... My partner and I had to make up some sad dishes with sautéed veggies, salad and rice. The second time that I ate here they had only told us that the vegan option was sold out 15 mins after we had ordered and out friends already got their starters. They rushed to make some mushrooms, rice and crisps which ended up in half-cooked rice and the plates coming out 10 mins apart, how hard is it? Never again and I do not see the hype behind this place, why make people wait for hours and not accept reservations?

Visited this restaurant yesterday evening, thinking it has all these positive reviews and people desperately trying to get tables.First of all had three items that I could eat being a vegan.Waitress(Carla ) informed that the two items I chose were not on the menu anymore ,as menu had changed, only item I could have was an avocado which,I’m not fond of.She suggested chips for my dinner!I asked could the chef make me something with veg and potatoes, garlic. etc, thinking this must be no problem,as all these ingredients feature in most of their dishes. She went away and returned with a large plate of boiled potatoes with tomato ,no garlic, flavoring or anything else.I just asked if she would return it,.My husband was eating his dinner by this time ,I just said I do want anything else Carla returned with a plate of potatoes fried with some garlic and salad which was better and edible. Why is this “restaurant “ advertising the fact that is vegan and vegetarian friendly when it isn’t.The chef obviously could not be bothered ,I did give a few suggestions.I also asked to speak to the manager or chef.Carla came back said they couldn’t /wouldn’t speak with me.I can’t fault the service from Carla, she was great throughout, but she shouldn’t have had to deal with this.I wanted to make a complaint, but obviously customers don’t matter.I can’t recommend that you eat here ,ruined my evening, the only compensation was that my meal was free(only worth 5 euros at most).Avoid this place at all costs.

This restaurant was recommended by my hotel receptionist but I must say it was a very disappointing experience. The waiting line was super long and they offered me a table at the bar to get in faster and not take up a table where they could seat more than one person. I declined the offer as it was a very uncomfortable chair and right by the busy noisy kitchen. The waiter was very upset that I wanted a proper table and was treated accordingly throughout my experience. I had inconvenienced him from seating more people in this “rat-race” restaurant, where the numbers seated as quickly as possible was more important then my dining experience. The atmosphere is very loud, frenzied and they can rush you fast enough. The fish of the day was brought to me, not by my server but the man in charge of rushing people through the seating line and just thrown in front of me like I was a dog being fed, without any words or if I needed anything else. I was not brought salt/pepper or butter for my dry baked potato. The fish had a million small bones and was impossible to eat. I swallowed a tiny bone and it was stuck in my throat. I left the place in tears as such an awful awful dining experience.

The restaurant is always full everyday even if it doesn’t take reservations. The waiter is very rude and in front of the restaurant it’s very dirty. We tried to come here three times but it was already full. Don’t go here.

I wanted to write a review just to address the great service we received, waiters are friendly and welcoming, the owner is a little bit grumpy but its okay its funny. On the side of the people it was all great and fine, than came food and drinks... The place looks really nice and the location is cool. The food is unfortunatly not as expected. All side dishes are soaked in vinegar (not specified in the eng menú). The draft beer had a metallic taste and smell (end of keg or bad pipes cleaning). The fish dishes were not so convincing, a rare tuna arrives medium rare/well cooked and the baccahlau head is just something I would not suggest to my worse enemy. The limpets were terrible, chewi and diving in butter.. should be an island classic.. Sides and guarnishing really not the best. Pricewise is cheaper than the others but also the kitchen that look so professional and clean seems have some struggles. Not my best experience here on the island, sadly average

We arrived early one evening and fortunately sat right down without a reservation. The place fills up quickly! Great service and an extensive menu. It was so hard to choose a few dishes. We had a little bit of everything! A Tasca is a simple restaurant with a great atmosphere and the whole experience was great! We enjoyed the food so much that we returned for a second trip a few nights later to try a few more menu items!

We accidentally got to this restaurant and we had an amazing culinary experience! Perfectly served steak and beautiful traditional fish meal. After 3 weeks travelling in the Azores and so many amazing restaurants to visit we might say this is one of the best place we were eating. Highly recommended!

Só, this is not exactly a ‘typical‘ restaurant. It is quite urban and smart. But the service is still great (I have visited last year and a few years before), the atmosphere very pleasant and the food is delicious and varied. I recommend choosing 2 tapas per person and an appetizer. The staff is quite friendly but the difficulty is to get a table. Make sure you reserve a couple of days ahead of time.

I have been several times to A Tasca. The food is really good, also the daily dishes. each time I got served by Tiago who is waiter there and he adviced me very well about the azorean's specialities (food and beverages). His service was every time really good, 1000 times better than french service.

The restaurant, apparently the hot spot for dining in Ponta Delgada, is not worth a minute the waiting time to get a table. The food was disgusting: an octopus salad with far too much vinegar, hence sour, the fish stew a complete disaster, fishtails wit only bones, ok, the friendly waitress changed to the catch of the day, which was the same, completely overcooked and dry. I really wonder why so many people wait to get this experience.

Go here, you won’t regret it. We ate here twice during our trip to São Miguel island and both times we were so impressed. First visit I tried the tuna steak which was absolutely unbelievable, so good. Second trip I tried a grilled fish that was fresh caught, which was also very good. Excellent selection of wine and beverages. A lot of variety on the menu of fresh seafood and local dishes. Honestly I could have ordered anything off the menu and been impressed. Highly recommend the biscuit cake for dessert.
