This was recommended locally as the best steak in town. I chose the steak which was bland, tasteless and covered in some brown grease mascarading as sauce. My boys 21 and 24 avoided the steak and had better luck with the pork and lamb. I booked and the table we were given was right next to the serving door. One... More

Great wine and steak! Make sure to make a reservation in advance. My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday evening with a reservation; it was completely booked, so call ahead! We had the HOUSE white wine and it was one of the best white wines I've ever had. We also had red wine from Pico which was delicious.... More

I was staying at the hotel and decided to try their restaurant. Service was very good. Food was average – I ordered the grilled grouper. It came with boiled potatoes and cauliflower. The grouper was bland – even with salt, pepper and lemon. The appetizer of selected local cheeses and pineapple marmalade was good.

This places serves up a juicy steak not to be missed. Many other choices on the menu, but our guide recommended the steak and it did not disappoint. House wines were quite good. Excellent, unique desserts as well. We would have gone back if we had stayed a longer period.

We ate here on our last night in the Azores and had the best meal (their special steak) of our trip. Service was excellent and very friendly. However, having left the restaurant we discovered we had been (inadvertently?)overcharged. Fortunately the restaurant was still open when we returned and we were given our Euros19 back....... The moral is always check the... More

We had a great meal for 2 the last night of our vacation. The service was great, the food was wonderful. We ordered the mixed grill and grilled tuna and shared them. The menu had more choices than just meat and French fries as is the case in many places here. The wine list was extensive, mostly bottles ranging in... More

We found this restaurant in a side street near the harbour. Unlike most Azorean restauarants, the specialty here is steak, and in particular their "steak Alcide" which they have been serving for many years. I ordered the steak, it was a thinner slice than I expected, and it was garnished with fresh whole garlic and roasted red pepper. Quite tasty... More

We didn't make reservations and were able to walk in and get seating for two. The bread, cheese and fruit preserves offered were tasty but probably not worth paying extra for in my opinion, since the portions were a good size. We ordered a sea bass egg fry and the conger eel stew. Both were very good and a good... More

I must say I am a bit surprised reading so much negative critics about this restaurant. I visited this restaurant several times during my last visit of San Miguel, and have nothing to complain about. The restaurant is part of a hotel complex and is perhaps not the most original place - interior and decoration wise. The staff have been... More

It's kind of famous the Alcides steak in Ponta Delgada. This was my first time there and only one word can define the experience: disappointment. The place is not cozy and a bit hot. The staff is not that friendly and when we start to order the steak they tell us that a small one is enough. Reality: No. The... More
