This is the perfect place to eat traditional homemade food. You just feel like you are at home and the people are very welcoming and attentive. I’ve been here for lunch with my husband and son and the food was goodness. I had a cabbage...and meats dish and my husband had the wild boar. The starter it had to be the presunto from Monchique as you cannot miss this lovely cured meat. Will come back when possible.More

Immersed in the mountain in a beautiful garden surrounded by all local wild life, this unique restaurant is the perfect spot for a typical meal in Monchique. In the summer it´s fresh and full of life in the winter warm and comforting with all the...fire places. All the typical disshes and more, very well prepared. Great food and great people.More

Probably the nicest location of all the restaurants we visited around Monchique. A relaxed and charming atmosphere in a beautiful garden setting. The staff were very friendly and I heard them speaking different languages to the other guests. A really relaxing and enjoyable family meal.

On a trip down the mountain from Foia we turned off and found the restaurant by accident down a narrow lane Great hospitality with food cooked the traditional ways it was great food beautifully seasoned washed down with a carafe if local wine whilst sitting...under the olive trees in the warm March sun. It was great the place has a large indoor seating area with a large wood fire burning even with sun out but I guess it will cool tonight. So dinner required for us tonight after a selection of starters and wild boar stew. Highly recommended oMore

We decided to try Jardim Das Oliveiras for our anniversary dinner so I booked a table by the window. It turned out to be a cold and wet evening, so we were the only people (other than another couple which they put in a different...room). They built a fire especially for us and placed us close to it which was a bonus as it would have taken some time for the large room to heat up. This is a good quality restaurant with the trimmings and during the day it must have a very pleasant outlook. The service was very good. We started with bread and olives (standard fare in Portugal - always good to miss the other stuff like margarine and fish paste which is usually over priced). I followed with the soup of the day (€1.90)which I enjoyed and Fiona had the mushrooms (Cogumelos Fruitos) which was a large portion of mushrooms probably fried in butter and very good (no fillers).at €8. For mains, Fiona had the stuffed squid (Lulas Cheias €15) which was good but a little disappointing in taste. She thought possibly a little over cooked and the stuffing was a bit boring. I had the wild boar (Javali a Casa €15) which came served in a separate dish and a more than adequate portion. Its not the best Javali in the area but I enjoyed it. We found the wine prices a bit steep so went with the house wine (Jarro €8.50) which was fine. Generally a good evening if a bit steep for Portugal at €51.80. As an aside we were sorry that we hadn't come with our children last month as there is a good variety of vegetarian and vegan options which are rare in Portugal.More
