Ordered sides so we could have a selection of dishes, staff very lovely But we are in a fishing town they are serving cheap frozen calamari, Spicy wings had no flavour whatsoever chips were lovely. Soup good but not very warm. Prawns no flavour at all. Presentation of all dishes very good Just need to rethink quality of the products Very clean including toilets

Good dinner in old town Lagos

We had a pretty good dinner at this spot. We had walked back from watching the sunset at Point Piedade and needed some food to replenish ourselves. This place ended up having a great meal - I had the fish and chips which I really enjoyed. This place offered blankets which was a great touch as it got a little chilly towards the end of the night. I would recommend this restaurant if you happened to be in the area looking for some food. The one knock on this place is that it doesn't take credit card and they don't tell you have signs to let you know that. They direct you to an ATM that is right in front which charges some exorbitant fees. Even if they decided to accept credit cards but pass that through to the customer, it would have been a better option then forcing customers to use the ATM.

I recommend the churros for dessert

The churros with dulce de leche are very good! We ordered some cocktails that were good, some mozzarella sticks (which I recommend), eggs rancheros with nachos (I recommend), chicken tacos (they no longer had carnitas) and for dessert the churros. The service was not long and they were very friendly.

We wandered upon this restaurant as the restaurant we wanted to go to was fully booked and didn't have space for us. We thought it looked nice as it had a great outdoor space for a nice sunny day. Found out later when I went to pay that the outdoor space is the only space - there is no indoor seating area. There is a limited food menu which looks bigger than it is as half is in Portuguese and the other half in English. We really should have gone on to the next available restaurant as various factors made this an unrecommendable experience. The wait for the food was excessive given it's the type of food that goes in the deep fryer. We finished our beers and had to ask about when our order was arriving. The fish and chips was oily and too salty. Our 6 year old kept asking for more iced tea as he said it was too salty and tasting it myself I had to agree. For the price you'd expect something pretty decent but it wasn't the case. Better fish and chips is to be found at Ol' Bastard's not far away. The calamari looked liked the ready made supermarket bought type. There is a fish market in Lagos (Mercado Municipal de Lagos) so no idea why it wasn't bought fresh. Also tasteless. The prawn curry with Basmati rice was average but was not spicy in the least. The wait staff were very accommodating, thoughtful and friendly but the kitchen is just super slow and what comes out doesn't really meet expectations. Having hungry kids doesn't help and delivered food is overpriced for what you get. Many better restaurants in Lagos so just walk on a little further and save yourself an unsatisfying dining experience.

On the outside this looks like a nice spot for lunch but the food is all overpriced and lacks any flavor. The chef and wait staff just stood around and talked and we’re not very attentive and it showed in the food. Do not stop here even if you are starving!

Was not a great experience, the food was all straight from the freezer and dipped in the deep fat fryer. Would definitely not recommend. The onion rings and callimarri starters were not what I would have expected unless I was shopping in Iceland. The main course of tacos were just about warm and really not very appealing, this complaint was greeted with a shrug. 70 euros for a family of four for this standard of food is a joke

Very disappointing!

Came for lunch with family whilst in Lagos and wish we hadn’t bothered. We came here last year and I remember enjoying it, which is why we came back for a return visit, but we all wish we had spent our money elsewhere at a restaurant that would actually appreciate our custom. The service was slow and there was barely a smile to be seen. It looked like the staff, of whom there were not many, wished they were anywhere but there. The cocktails tasted watered down, starter was quite tasteless, main courses were cold and when we mentioned this to the waitress there was no apology, we were just asked if we wanted them heating up or new ones bringing, as if it were perfectly acceptable for them to have served it the way they did. They eventually took them back, leaving another member of the party eating their meal alone while two of us waited for replacements. Even after this there was still no friendly check in to see if everything was alright with our meals (which, although slightly warmer than the first time they served them, were still not particularly warm). Poor service, unfriendly unwelcoming attitude and complete disinterest in their customers, and to make matters worse, very expensive for what you actually get, especially as it is such poor quality. Seriously disappointed and embarrassed that I suggested to my family having lunch here. I really hope things improve for their sake as I can see a lot of similar reviews on here, but we will not be coming back and would not recommend it.

Worst eating out experience in Lagos

The worst eating out experience in Lagos in years of being here. 1. Service: not 1 smile from a waitress all evening. Not only that, they were positively miserable. 2. Service part b: 1 drink (first lot they had the order wrong) or 1 meal in a group of 7 arrived always 10 mins after the rest had arrived and had to be chased. 3. Food: only just warm, at best: all the chips in every meal were almost cold. 4. Food part b. €14 for enchiladas that were small with very unimpressive filling?!! Really??? My opinion what’s needed: 1. new, happy, positive waiting staff who actually enjoy their job. (It was like they’d all been told they were fired after this shift). 2. New/more kitchen staff to get better quality plates out to paying customers that are HOT!!! Until that happens, I’m never going again.

Service was very slow and the staff appeared to really not want to be there. Food was unimpressive - tacos were cold and soggy. The spaghetti bolognaise was basically mince with a taco mix thrown on it, very dry and tasteless. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone as felt very unwelcome.

The only good thing about the place is the design of the wall, and you can see it for free, don't waste your money here. We went hungry and we were novices, as in a Mexican they don't give you nachos in heavenly conditions, in addition to the portion being tiny as you can see in the photo. There are lots of fabulous places to eat in Lagos, but unfortunately this is not one of them. Starters were reasonable and arrived quickly, but the main courses (we opted for tropical burger, chicken sandwich and children’s burger) took ages to arrive and when they did they were cold, greasy and tasteless. Would not recommend at all. If you’re looking for great burgers, desserts and cocktails head to Nah Nah Bah instead!

The place is quite busy and has a line up to get in at times. Not sure why! We had the enchilada 14 euros and tacos - 13 euros for a main course. There was hardly anything inside the enchilada … mostly black beans and a few strands of pulled pork. The portions could best be described as appetizers. Quality slightly worse than a Taco Bell. Very disappointed and would not return. Should have read the reviews. Avoid.

We ate very delicious on the welcoming terrace. The food offer appealed to us very much and we were not disappointed! Mozzarell sticks and nachos with cheese to start, variously stuffed tacos and a bowl to the main course. Also there is a great drink menu with a wide selection with and without alcohol.

Great service, great cocktails, great price!

We had a great experience at Santa Maria. We only got cocktails but visited 3 times in our short stay. The service was very fast and the cocktails were unbelievable, especially the margaritas. The size of the cocktails were huge for the price. We were served mostly by Goncalo and he was great. Really fast and nice service. Definitely stop here for a few drinks during your stay at Lagos.
