Delhi Darbar is a family owned Indian Restaurant opened at the start of 2015 in Lagos Portugal. Everything is made fresh, from scratch and with our love and passion! We are committed to providing all our customers a genuine Indian family dining experience with great service. In the tradition of Indian cooking, we believe that food is a celebration of life. Excellent food, price and staff.

We 4 happened upon this great restaurant by chance and were well pleased with the choice and quality of food which was excellent, the attentiveness and courtesy of staff and the value. Our waiter was very helpful in assisting with our choice of dishes, and all the food seemed perfectly prepared and served. We shall return during the remainder of our stay.

Spicy but tasty

We had a nice meal with my partner. We had 2 appetisers, 2 meals with rice, 1 bottle of red wine and one large beer for less than 50€. Dishes were overall a little bit too sweet for my liking but my partner loved everything. Service went smooth and was very quick. Waiters were asking frequently is everything was alright.

Good Indian in the Algarve, but slow service

Good Indian in the Algarve, but not the best. Went to Delhi Darbar on the last night of our group golfing trip. Being a large restaurant they accommodated us on a large table easy enough, but the ordering seemed haphazard. Took nearly 20 minutes to get our first beer, over half hour for the poppadoms to arrive and starters and mains seemed slow to arrive. Food was fine, not fantastic, but due to the delays and general slowness (as we were all massively hungry when we walked in) we felt this was a bit of a let down for our last night. Other meals we had in Lagos were more memorable and enjoyable. Maybe better with a smaller group.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us! We do understand in this occasion the service was a little bit slow but there were a few reasons for this to happen. Your table was a group of 18 people with 9 separate bills. This can cause a small delay on opening 9 separate bills on our system and for the drinks not to arrive at the same time at the table. Also some of the customers chose not have any starters and therefore the perception of time from sitting down to the time the main courses arrived to the the table is vast. We also had other large groups at the same time in our Restaurant and new staff who is still adapting to our system to be able to give the best they can to our customers. We do apologize for this situation and would love to have another opportunity to cater you. Thank you very much for your 4 star review and we are glad you bringing this matter to our attention. Hopefully see you soon at our Restaurant.

Great food here, but small portions for the money. You do not get rice, veggies or bread with the entree orders, everything is ordered and priced separately which makes for a pricey meal. There are better deals here.

Not many customers find our restaurant over priced so we think it's a perspective and therefore we respect your opinion. We haven't raised our prices since we opened in 2015 and we have a good base of regular customers who are happy with our food, service and prices. Again, thank you for your review.

Very Good Food

Food was excellent with very good food and attentive service. Prices were reasonable. They even warm the plates, which isn't often seen. We had a chicken tikka masala, prawn curry, naan, raita, and rice and barely made it through all the food. They offer it mild, medium and hot, while we had medium....my wife thought it was a little too hot. I thought it was perfect, but you may want to order it in the mild version if you don't like spicy. Will definitely go back again here, next opportunity.

Was good, but little disappointed

First visit here to this highly rated Indian, greeted like old friends on arrival, lovely service and most of the food excellent. I had Chicken Rogan Josh and the Chicken was chewy, it appeared cooked but was definitely different than my Wife's meal with Chicken.. As you do i carried on eating and mentioned it at the end, the staff were apologetic but probably should have sent it back earlier. Everyone shook our hands on the way out, made to feel very welcome, just a shame it wasn't the best Curry i had eaten in Lagos.

Fantastic food

My wife and I went here the other night when we were just wanting something different to the standard fayre. The staff are very welcoming and when you order your curry, they ask if you want that mild, medium or hot. My wife had the lamb bhuna and I had the chicken xacuti (a curry I’ve only seen in Karma, Olympia before). Both were delicious and potentially the best Indian curries I’ve tasted. We had a single portion of pilau rice and one plain naan to accompany. This was more than enough and we couldn’t finish everything. This seemed to be a bit of a worry to the staff but I must reiterate that we’d had our fill and the meal was fantastic.

Fantastic meal, even better service

We were greeted warmly by all the staff who encouraged us to follow all the current Covid procedures. When it came to ordering the staff could not do enough for us, offering to cook items not even on the menu to suit our tastes and making suggestions based on us all as individuals. The food arrived and matched what was already turning into a great evening. Fantastic selection and wonderfully tasty food complimented by very friendly staff. We will definitely be returning next time we come back to Lagos!

Genuine Indian cuisine in the heart of Lagos

Delhi Darbar offers tasty and delicious authentic Indian cuisine in the centre of Lagos. We really did not expect to encounter such good Indian flavours in Lagos and were pleasantly surprised. The welcome is warm and you are offered a delicious lemon drink and the waiters are all very nice and take your specific wishes in consideration. Went there with a vegan friend and they really took the time to find the appropriate dish. There are enough (vegan) options with really authentic flavours. We went there twice and both times were great and flavourwise very different. They had really fair prices (approx 8-10 euros for a main dish). The only downside might be that the interior may appear as a bit outdated, but in my opinion this is not disturbing at all and will contribute to a wonderful experience.

We were all completely blown away by the food. Ignore the slightly random location, as soon as you step inside you're met with super friendly and helpful staff, smiles, and I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E food. It was delivered and all I heard was "oohhhh this is the best curry I've ever had" 'and "YUMMMMMMM". We want to go again and again. Thanks so much!

Not the greatest location (behind a petrol station) but worth seeking out.

Good Indian food in a restaurant that is larger than it looks. All the "standard" Indian cuisine is available and the service is good. Half a bottle of reasonable wine for €7 to accompany the food was good value. I asked for a "madras hot" meal and that's what I got. Not too hot, but a bit of a kick. Just turn the lights down a bit guys, it's far too bright in there.

Second visit in a week!

Sitting at my table right now, just about to tuck into the second meal at Delhi Darbar on this visit. Up to now, the Indian food we have had in Lagos has been aimed at the wider audience. In the UK we are connoisseurs of Indian food, and I for one have found the flavour infusion and spice use in Lagos underwhelming. DD food is a much closer facsimile of what true Brits demand of their curry. For those less adventurous, you are able to choose how spicy you want any dish, so you can keep the flavour you want, and the spice level you like. My tip is if you like hot food, ash for ‘hot-plus’ or you’ll find your vindaloo is a madras.

Such a terrible meal

I rate this meal as a 1 as I have just eaten here. I suggest that if want an Indian meal keep well away as they cook fake, inedible meals saying it’s Indian and the staff , to their credit acknowledge this. I had a kebab as starter that did not come and had to wait as my main got cold but the meat was stale and hard, my main was a dopiaza and it was just all tomoto sauce, no Indian herbs or spices, I would not even give this type of food to my … but as typical Indians they took my money - just don’t go here!!!

But we are in Portugal we are also look after our local guests and international guests but your Indian and your partner she was enjoy all food. Takeaway Service

My wife and I decided that on our last evening in Lagos that we would get a takeaway from Delhi Darbar as we had an early departure the following morning and not going out to eat. I called the restaurant just after opening at 17.30, placed my order and was told it would be ready in 20 - 25 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant just before 18:00 and was asked to take a seat, which I did unfortunately I waited for at least another 25 minutes before I was handed my takeaway. It was early in the evening and the restaurant was relatively quiet and it became very clear that they do not start cooking the takeaway food until you arrive to pick it up. I fully understand why they would do this as they have probably been hit in the past with people calling in for a takeaway and not turning up and the restaurant left with spoilt food. However, they should make it clear that if you phone for a takeaway you have to prepay with a debit or credit card, this would alleviate any issue about no shows. That's my nag over, now onto the important part. The food was as always excellent with the correct balance of spice and heat, The portions were large and the free poppadum's and pickles are a really nice touch. I fully recommend this restaurant but be aware of my issue if you are going to call for a take away.

Surprisingly delicious !

Great value for a delicious meal. The dishes we had were full but not overwhelming flavors and their presentation were on point. The staff was extremely friendly...we were greeted by a gentleman named Vikas who took our orders and gave excellent recommendations. We will definitely come back to this restaurant on our next visit to Lagos.
