We have used this take away many times and would have given 4 stars previously. We appreciate that Saturday is busy after the market closes and understand that there is a queuing system and patience is needed. When our ticket was next we duly gave...it to the staff member, ordered our dish and were asked as usual for the number of persons eating. Having waited for much longer than others in the queue, we asked about the progress of our order. On learning the dish we ordered the head staff member, told us that her colleague does not speak English (clearly not the case), that the dish we ordered ran out an hour before and, if we wanted to avoid problems there, we should learn to speak Portuguese. We left feeling bruised and unwelcome. As they advertise on Facebook each day's dishes in English and Portuguese, this demonstrates that they only tolerate non Portuguese customers when it is convenient for them. Avoid.More
We have used this takeaway several times over the years, really good piri piri chicken and chips and salad . Really nice and reasonable price.
The picture is a bit confusing as this is not a sit down restaurant, but a fantastic take away place. The lovely staff cooks home style food all day long. You can take it home, maybe add a salad and have a wonderful meal with...no fuss. The veal stew was excellent, as were all of the meals we tried. This place was right down the street from our apartment. It attracted our attention because it is busy all the time. People lining up to get in, parking their cars every where and obviously, getting their lunch, or dinner to take home for the family. My Portuguese is way too limited to tell you the other things we tried, but everything is delicious. Including the little fried tasties that are in a display case on the counter. We got in the habit of taking a picture of the daily menu and translating it to chose our dinner. This is a must and a nice break from cooking or eating out. Also it is real authentic Portuguese food.More

We come here every time we are in Lagos as they have the best piri sauce freshly made by the Marques family. You cant beat it and because each batch is freshly made the flavours always taste a little different every visit! I had the...frango piri as always and my husband had the lamb stew which was cooked alentejo style with bread in the stew, delicious! With the olives, wine ,arroz doce ( still warm from being made that day!)coffee and brandies the whole meal came to 27 euros! What value and what lovely people running it!More

We just visited Churrasqueira Marques a week ago, in September. This restaurant is a block from the bus station. It was really close to the apartment we rented at Quintals das Palmeiras Lagos. It was recommended to us as a Piri Piri Chicken take out...place. Well, on one side of this locals restaurant is take out and on the other side is a very nice sit down cafe. I ordered the Piri Piri Chicken, which came with rice, French fries and a salad , all for 8 euros. My husband had the Portuguese Steak, with egg on it, rice and French fries, which was less. I enjoyed my dinner so much I told the nice owner that I could have licked my plate! This is the only place in Lagos that we came back to eat again because it was so good. My husband had the Chicken this time. The owners were such nice people. When we came back they surprised us with a complimentary serving of Rice Valenciana, which he said we needed to try before going back to the U S. We recommend this restaurant to all.More
The take away is great but do try the snack bar too. Wonderful local dishes, sensible prices and full of locals who know the best places to eat. Can't wait to go back.
We often pop into the café/restaurant here for a quick but nice evening meal. Their homemade piri piri sauce is second to none, as is their Bitoque, which is veal or Pork steak cooked either with a homemade sauce or an egg and served with...chips, rice and a salad. This time my husband had pork fillets with chestnuts and he loved it. All of the dishes are prepared in the takeaway side so they sometime run out of some of the specials by about 7.30pm but the grills are always available and excellent priced too. Our typical bill for two course (main and pudding) plus wine and a coffee comes to 21 euros for the two of us. A bargain and enjoyable too!More
