Hello! This is the most wonderful restaurant in Lagos. For a really special culinary experience I would recommend! Family run, the team take real pride in their food-and so they should. We go to Lagos each summer and we always make it here at least...once...we still talk about our great meals here. Thank you!More

The food was amazing, in both presentation and flavour. We loved the personal and friendly service. This was our favourite restaurant in Lagos - if we had found it earlier in our stay, we probably would have eaten here more often! Small and intimate setting...- recommend reservations to make sure you get a table.More

Never had a bad experience here. Don’t think you can grab a quick meal here. It’s great food ,cooked to a high standard. And that takes time. The confit duck is awesome. Friendly staff as-well.

We visited in Sept as we heard great things about this restaurant but nothing could compare to the outstanding service, and quality of food we had the pleasure of enjoying. Would highly recommend the lamb shank, if available, it literally fell off the bone! Every...dish we had was so tasty never experienced anything like it before. Definitely a must for people visiting Lagos xMore

Wonderful restaurant! Owner/chef husband and wife team produce classic French food in small (think 16 seats) but warm space. Don't even think about trying to drop in without a reservation, not happening. I haven't had food like this since La Cote Basque in NYC circa...1990's; creme brulee was done perfectly (see picture)! Was nice to experience food like this again from a meticulous team. As others have said service can be slow but you're on vacation so why are you in a hurry? You want fast food I saw a fast food restaurant in town, go there! Also, the owner told us his son, who is normally the waiter, was away in France cooking at a restaurant there gaining experience. Bravo for him! All in all, a great meal and we will go again next time our travels take us to Lagos.More

Highly recommended. One of our most delicious meals in Portugal. The owners are wonderful hosts.Excellent French cuisine. Beautiful presentation. Food was perfectly cooked. The foie gras was stellar. Nice ambiance. Far enough away from the tourist area.

We had dinner at Casa do Pintor - Gourmet & Bistro as it was a restaurant that our accommodation recommended for us and it looked great on TripAdvisor, lots of good reviews. And what a disappointment we had, absolutely will not recommend and hope no...one else has a similar experience. The night started already horribly, since we searched for a parking spot for 45 minutes (!!), it was a summer night in August, so Lagos is full of tourists and everyone was driving around looking for parking spots. (Pro tip: take a taxi, do not take your own car!) When we finally found a place in an underground parking garage, we were already really hungry and had to walk for 10min to get to the restaurant. The restaurant was empty, only one table was occupied in addition to us. (They said you have to book a table since the place is very popular, did not seem to be true.) The menu only had a few options and everything was very expensive (around 15e per starters and 25-40e for main courses). We ordered starters and main courses and both had a glass of wine. Once we had ordered, it took at least 45min to get the starters, even though they told us a few times "we are almost ready", and the restaurant was empty, so it is not possible to blame rush hour. I had carpaccio for starters and my boyfriend had salmon tartar. Both extremely disappointing and not good, I was not able to finish my dish. The main course was a bit better, we had lamb with vegetables, but nothing great. Once we got the bill (75e for two persons), they told us they only accept cash and no cards, so we really felt like this was a scam and just wanted to leave. Perhaps the restaurant has been great sometime, but definitely was not great anymore, so - since we got fooled by all the great reviews, i'm writing about our experience which was the total opposite. You can of course try for yourself and see what you think!More

I haven’t left a review in years, but my experience at Casa do Pintor with my husband was so exceptional, I had to share. We stumbled upon the restaurant while looking at restaurants on TripAdvisor, and the photos from other reviewers looked nice so we...made a booking. The whole experience was first class - Jose was an absolute delight, very welcoming and obviously passionate about making sure we enjoyed our evening at his restaurant. We ordered the prawn cocktail as a starter - my husband, a man of few words or emotions, claimed it was the best meal he has ever eaten. For mains, I had the pork and my husband had the rack of lamb - tender, melt in your mouth, with beautiful accompaniments. Overall, the food was incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and Jose was an exceptional host. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Tip: be sure to make a reservation, as Jose was having to turn people away at the door. Also worth noting, it was cash only when we dined. It wasn’t the fastest meal we had, but as each dish is made fresh when you order, you would expect to have a slight wait - the food is well worth the wait. The music and overall atmosphere made it a really pleasant night out.More

So far the best meal in Lagos. Casa do Pintor is a small romantic restaurant which is a little out of town (10 minutes walk from the old town). We had decided to go here for my birthday treat and had tried to book a...few days before hand, however the owner explained that they do not take reservations and just to turn up. It was a risk to try with it being out of town and the height of summer but the reviews looked good so we decided to give it a go. Upon arriving, I was disappointed to see that all the tables had reserved signs but with only 1 table occupied. We asked the owner if they had availability and he explained that the people had not turned up for their reservation so allowed us to take a table. The menu choice is limited and 2 of the (6-7 I think?) main meals were not available, however we were offered alternatives, all of which sounded lovely. We opted to share the goats cheese to start, followed by the John Dory for my other half and the lamb shank for me. The owner kindly allowed me to change my potato option to mash which is a big tick from me. Sadly our wine of choice was also unavailable but the alternative was a good wine which we enjoyed. The starter was out of this world. Probably the best starter I have ever had and the lamb certainly did not disappoint. That mash was beautiful! The plates were dressed beautifully and the aromas were mouth watering. The owner was very attentive and you could tell he had had a bad evening with diners not turning up for their reservation. It was sad to see. Whilst there, every table had a reserved sign yet not one of the bookings arrived. I don’t know if the risk was greater with us being tourists and that the owner had been let down by tourist bookings in the past but it didn’t feel nice to be told that they did not do reservations and to find out that is not true. I urge anyone who makes a reservation for any restaurant to attend or at least cancel in advance if you can no longer go. This is a small family run business who could be forced to close if they are saving tables for people who do not turn up and have to turn away genuine business.More
