Been coming here for over 20 years and this place is always top of the list. Fantastic food, superb friendly and professional service. Olga and her team are really on the ball, and together with a huge menu choice, beautifully cooked and presented, makes this a fantastic dining experience. Compared to most town restaurants, this was surprisingly well priced, with a good house wine only €15. Having read some very negative reviews, I was apprehensive, visiting with a young baby, but had absolutely no problems, despite her being awake and vocal all night. We will most certainly return.

We were delighted. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. The tables were set with quality, and there were also cloth napkins. With the carefully selected menu, the only challenge was making a decision. The mixed starter plate was superb because it gave us an idea of where we were: in a very good, creative kitchen. The main course for me was to be St. Peter's fish in a shrimp sauce on fresh vegetables with gratinated potatoes. Sensational. Everything was super fresh with a perfect bite and superbly seasoned. My wife and our friends were also delighted with their dishes. Unfortunately, there was no room for the much-praised, homemade dessert. The drinks were very well coordinated and the service was always there before you even thought of it. Conclusion: A dream - the prices were completely OK and the evening was worth every cent. Don't forget to reserve a table!

Had a great meal here and returned in second week with my parents, lovely atmosphere the best fillet steaks I’ve seen in a long time, they were massive! The lamb and the tuna were also amazing. Staff were great at accommodating my fussy 11 yr old ask for plain pasta lol, which was her favourite meal of the holiday and it was her that is still saying she wishes she was back, not sure what you do with your pasta haha desserts also great and not something I usually eat but coup at resist! Loves the peacefulness of this place, thank you for two great nights xx

This is not a good place to go. We spent 20 euros by cab going there as we thought it had good reviews. But it doesn't say its Flemish/Belgian/Dutch run on the website- I thought it would be Portuguese as we were in Portugal. It also doesn't say on the website you have to book. We arrived - the place was empty - they said they were fully booked. My boyfriend said we will be out in an hour - no, the chef said, it will be full in 15 minutes. My boyfriend asked can we sit at the bar while we wait for a taxi ? No, he said, even though my boyfriend can't stand up for more than 5 minutes as he's disabled and also suffers from angina and a risk of a heart attack. So we wait 20 mins for our cab - standing up outside - still the restaurant is empty - and they won't let us sit down. Terrible place and in the middle of nowhere. They weren't even apologetic that they had no table even though they had so many empty tables. Just rude, cold, unfriendly people. But we had a great time at a real portguese place - Jota Lita - the best food and staff ever.

Jan and his staff welcome you warmly and the flavours begin. Cover includes a delicious ‘amuse’. The variety of starters is great but I favour the scallops which are cooked to perfection. Fresh fish to follow for me, (with cheesy potatoes), Vegetarian option for my wife who adores the choice and food. Hot cherries is her sweet delight. L’Orange is a very special restaurant and one we talk about a lot while home in England in the dark cold wintry evenings. A jewel in Carvoeiro’s crown!

Don't go with kids!! Rudest Chef/Owner I have ever come across

We arrived for an 8pm booking on 13/08/21. The chef was outside and DID NOT look happy to see us. Myself my wife and 3 daughters. We took some photos in the garden (nothing too spectacular) and were mindful not to distract fellow diners. The staff were on edge it seemed and did not engage in much chat. We have visited the restaurant over the years on our visits to the area. Towards the end of the evening we decided to perhaps call it a night as our youngest was getting a bit restless. What happened next was humiliating and embarrassing for my family. The chef reappeared to chat to fellow diners and turned to me and asked to "keep your kids quiet". Or move your baby. Honestly after being closed for Covid you'd think these guys would love to see returning customers. We had brought both our daughters here previously same time no problem. I suggested the chef ask my 20 month old to be quiet, we were doing our best and honestly there wasn't a peep out of them all night except for some singing (low and happy ) we thought fellow diners were enjoying them. No unruly behaviour no leaving the table nothing. The chef left and I followed him to ask him what he meant. "do not bring your f**king kids here at 8pm" Only bring them at 6 was the response. We paid the bill with the waitress apologising profusely. I told her we would never return and the chef was ignorant. She apologies and explained she had kids herself, the Chef was HER BOSS. The owner of the business told me to keep my kids wqueit or move them and not to "f**king bring them there late". We will never ever return to this establishment, if this is how the owner acts when someone visits from foreign country good luck to him.

Food was good but there’s an arrogance from the owners who basically are fulfilling their own personal ambition as opposed to delivering what customers want. The staff are very conscientious but clearly trained to up-sell. If you want a quiet intimate dinning experience with decent quality food then go there. Just don’t entertain the self indulgence walk through by the chef/owner at the end of the night unless you happen to be one of his anointed sycophants.

This table for 8 did not disappoint in any way! Service was impeccable and each course served with precision and care. We all ordered different items on the menu the most delicious succulent lamb shank and fillet cooked to perfection. . Despite its simplicity nd countryside ambience we will definitely be returning during our stay in Carvioeiro.

We decided for this restaurant based on its reviews. Our experience could have been better. While the food and the service were good, we did not feel welcomed by the owner who at our arrival stood blocking the entrance enquiring what we were doing there. We were unpleasantly surprised as we had a reservation and were encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early, which we did. As we were shown our table he stated that the kitchen was closed till 7:00PM and that we would have to wait. All this in an unfriendly manner. After this experience we decided not to return and not reserving the restaurant for a large group dinner party.

Sorry to say but you made a reservation with the Fork for 7pm. You were standing at the door just before 6.30pm. The restaurant was 't open yet. Thats why I was a bit suprised. So please don't write auch nonsens.

We should have checked the reviews properly before going here. I believe most of the good reviews came from Germans and they apparently do not have great taste! Everything had to be ordered at once which is annoying. The food was diabolical to say the least. We got the mixed starter and finished off with the pasta with prawns and a mango prawn salad. The mixed starter was a mix of everything weird from Indian food to Portuguese to British. The pasta was mixed with a curry paste and made absolutely no sense to any taste buds 🥴 the mango was good but prawns of a fairly mediocre standard. And everything was finished off with a thousand island dressing…. I felt like, I was on Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay! Sorry but will not recommend this to anyone apart from German people!

Owner has a terrible attitude

Used to use this restaurant often, before I was served raw chicken, for which I was charged, such is the arrogance of the chef/owner. However, I decided recently to go again because my new friends had been told the food was good and asked me to go with them. We arrived on time and the waitress asked for our covid certificate, whilst I had mine, my friends had not and told her so. The waitress called the owner over and he announced, that we needed to leave. At the time I thought that was fair enough, but the way he treated my elderly friends and myself was atrocious. He is curt, unempathetic, and rude, he has absolutely no customer service and is bad-mannered. We went to another restaurant and told them before entering our covid certificate status, the waiter informed us that the restriction had been lifted two days before,! So now clueless can be added to this guy's list of shortcomings. Needless to say, although the food is good, even if he had a Michelin star and offered the food for free, I will never use this place ever again.

We visited this fab restaurant for the first time this year. The food is fantastic, the service is brilliant with such lovely waiting staff who are friendly and attentive and the setting was so lovely and peaceful. We had a table for 6. A family of 4, two adults, a 9 year old, a 14 year old and grandparents. We all really enjoyed everything about this restaurant so we returned on two more evenings before we came home. It was very refreshing to have a children’s menu that had proper food for our 9 year old, not the normal chicken nuggets/ fish fingers that most other restaurants offer. I would definitely recommend a visit

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and once again we have had a wonderful evening food, staff and ambience could not be faulted. I cannot believe some of the latest reviews about this place there is always two sides to a story!!!!! We will definitely be returning very soon. Thank you all

This restaurant is outside the hustle and bustle of Carvoeiro. That was fine for us, because within walking distance of our apartment in Hello Villas. We even went there twice during our holiday in Carvoeiro of 10 days. Limited menu but with a few delicious dishes, the spicy curry for example. And we lucked out with some very tasty off-the-card specials. Friendly staff, multilingual. After the meal a port or liqueur on the house. It is wise to make a reservation and this can easily be done by e-mail.

Wonderful service from Olga and her colleagues. We came before pre-covid, and coming back this year was always on the agenda. Delicious food. We had a selection of starters (the sharing one for 2 is highly recommended!) I had the tuna steak, my only comment is it was a very large portion (2 steaks) so I didn't have room for a pudding 😅 Husband & daughter had perfectly cooked filet steak. Totally recommend this restaurant
