Location and contact

A Vela offers a variety of traditional, international and Mediterranean cuisine. You can start of with a magnificent traditional dish from the Algarve Coast, Muxama (dried tuna salad) or even share a national cheese plate with homemade jams. As a main you can order between fish, meat or share dishes with your family & friends. A Vela’s Guests love the octopus a lagareiro style and the steak on the stone ‘do it yourself’ as well as the so typical Cataplana. When it comes to the delicious and All Homemade desserts, by Antónia, it is hard to resist to a special Orange tiramisu or a traditional Fig and Carob Tart from the Algarve.

We have been coming to Carvoeiro for many years. Never went here. What a fool we have been. Great food. Super friendly staff. We will come back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

As regular visitors to Carvoeiro we have our favourite eating places which we gravitate towards. Sometimes one disappoints and so we try to sample a 'new' (for us) one each year. This time we chose A Vela and it was a good decision. Located in...More

A warm welcome from the owner, Antonia, and her assistant suggesting the special couvert which was interesting and enjoyable. Starters were goat's cheese with honey in filo pastry and camarao soup which was tasty but could have done (presentationwise) with a couple of prawns swimming...More

Originally called for a quick drink but stayed for a meal. Lovely food wine and ambiance. Not impressive from the outside but don't be fooled. Food is fantastic. And sensational service at reasonable price. Will return.

Busy place but really fast and friendly service. We had the muxima? (dried tuna and goat cheese salad) starter and cataplana to share - both delicious. The waiter even served the cataplana to us at the table and there was a generous amount of fish...More

Lovely clean restaurant, service and food very good I had lamb skewers with garlic potatoes, if I was being critical the lamb was a tiny bit chewy but tasted fantastic, the wife had duck with mango and cheesy potatoes which was gorgeous, would definitely return.
