The manager of the restaurant needs a personality re-set. Glum, off-hand and without a notion of a welcome. Bad start. The waiter had no idea how to serve wine. - sploshing in a dash of wine to both my wife’s glass and mine to see...“if we liked it.” Wow, I thought. Continuing the bad start. The food was nicely presented and the tuna starter delicious. The lamb chops were not hot - and they should be - whilst the fries were equally luke-warm. We felt that was poor, especially as the lamb quality was high. Just poorly cooked and served. We just felt they were too engrossed in their rising reputation, too immersed in the “applause” to remember its customers that are actually needed and more importantly, should be looked after professionally. It was a pity - it’s expensive, but we didn’t mind that. We minded paying for great food and wine served poorly and incorrectly. Would t go back. So many other more relaxed restaurants in estremoz - of similar or equal quality. Avoid.More

You will be surprised entering the restaurant. Quite a nice ambience. Excellent food and excellent service (as if a Michelin recommended one). Quite surprised with excellent service from Jorge and Ana (an example to what is an excellent service and simpathy). One of the best...restaurants in Portugal.More

We booked for dinner and we stay outside but the excellent service of Jorge and the excellent food makes a great night out with friends. We started with lamb rolls, “chara” followed by lamb chops, codfish and “bochechas” and we finish with great deserts like...apple iced sorbet, “farófias” and mango with strawberry. A must if you go to EstremozMore

Very unpretenious entrance gives way to a fascinating delicatessan and quite a large dining area . Outside there is a terrace with larger tables for small groups. Tables well spread so quite comfortable about dining inside . Excellent menu of tapas -type dishes and mains...with good local wines to choose from. We were well-advised by our waiter but still managed to over-order as the portion sizes are good. Delicious prawns, some great foie and a superbly prepared octopus. Too much but all well-worth trying.More

This was a surprise. Amazing food and service. We started with Tuna Tartare, rhe Pica-Pau and then the Gadanha Scrambled eggs and everything was delightful. We finished with an indescribable desert Maça and Poejos that was out of this world.

We came here based on our hotel’s recommendation. Very busy and advisable to book. We were lucky! Top quality food and an extremely helpful waiter, Jorge. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. The octopus and fillet steak were excellent as...were all of the deserts. We shall be back!More

A good restaurant in Estremoz in a nice atmosphere, mixing a wine shop, a bar, a cellar, a restaurant. The food is good, quite original for the region (a Brazilian lady chef and co-owner). Very large selection of good wines at all prices ; unfortunately...our 2 first choices were missing and the staff didn't know ... so long awaiting and still (very) thirsty. The frustration in Gadaha Mercearia is that the boss is never smiling or welcoming, even at your fifth visit, he seems to ignore you. The second thing is that the (excellent) food comes in total disorder : your guests can get their appetizer at the same time than the entry, or the reverse. Overtime we went we had the same problem. Only desserts come all together, but takes a log time to come. So we like the place and we shall return, but hoping that the manager will learn how to smile and welcome regular clients, even if foreigners ... and that the cuisine and service will set a better synchronisation...More

Hi, it's a bit uphill. I didn't try walking but it should take about 20 minutes (but I'm not sure). We had our car.
