The cod is deep fried, and is served, bathing in the same oil that it is cooked in. There are not enough menus, so each table is given only one. The translations from Portuguese are poor: example the cod that came bathed in oil with fried onions was described in English as "cod with shrimp sauce

Adega do Isaias has been served traditional food for more than half a century and nothing appears to have changed. Wood charcoal grilled food and incredible oven dishes make this an unfogetable experience. Don't expect a cosy environment. This is a typical taverna with reliably good food. I live in the area and have been going there for twenty years... More

We went here to have dinner. We had "lagartixas". Thr lagartixas were well cooked and tasty when mixed with lemon. The sides were pretty uninteresting (fries and rice) which downplayed the dish a bit. Deserts were limited. The service was rushed and sometimes they just dropped stuff on the table without eveb saying anything. There are far better choices in... More

If you are searching for a tipical portuguese meal, a indulgent and confort plate from Alentejo, you're in the right place: The Adega do Isaías is a tipical restaurant with big olive oil and wine jars for decoration. Try the entrées - roast peperones, pees, cheese, chourizo. Drink the loca wine, red, dark, heavy, tastefull. And taste all the pork... More

Average food with extremely poor service. The owner was the most unpolite Portuguese i've met. Not an usual thing from Portuguese people. Regulary friendly, helpful and attentious about service.

Excellent roast lamb (roast meaning braised in US terms). My wife had the black pork - we culd have shared 1 dish as the portions were large. A decent house red and all at a very reasonable cost. Not glitzy or easy to find but a real Portuguese restaurant and an excellent host.

We had dinner here last night and were looking for a good, light dinner. TripAdvisor had this place at 4.5 stars and lists the cuisine as pizza, Portuguese. First, they DO NOT serve pizza! This needs to be changed. The food and service were not that good. My veal chop was the worst I've ever had. Some of the other... More

We really enjoyed our lunch at Isaiah's. We had come from Evora, but had to get the bus back at 1.50pm. The starters (peppers and olives) were just what we needed on a cool and windy November lunchtime. My duck was of generous proportions and delicious as was was my wife's lamb chops. Service was friendly and attentive. The decor... More

I expected much more. The atmosphere is typical from alentejo but the service is very slow and a bit confused. You must eat all the bits on the beginning !

great place to go there. This is Portugal the way I have seen it 25 years ago, very charming, regional cuisine and local wines. Definitely a place we can recommend!! We are astonished to see the overall ranking of this place, we would rank it MUCH higher, but this is up to each of us.
