This restaurant specialises in traditional Altentejo dishes at amazing value. We shared a (very large) salad, had fish and pork main courses two desserts and a large jug of Sangria. The total bill was only €50.70. All the food was very good. The service was...excellent and there was an English menu which made it easy to choose. The interior is rustic and the restaurant was full of locals.More

Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Elvas. We saw the reviews and were impressed enough to try it out. We reserved ahead of the trip to be assured of a table. The restaurant has a very rustic ambience. The host and service were impeccable. The...food however was a different story. I ordered the salmon - I have eaten salmon all over Portugal and never imagined that it could be cooked to be so tasteless (there was no seasoning at all and as it was drowned in a shrimp sauce - which was basically cream with boiled shrimp in it - it tasted like solid unsalted cottage cheese). Wife had ordered chicken skewers - but nowhere did it mention that it came wrapped in bacon (she does not like pork at all), plus the rice accompanying the chicken was dry and uncooked. Looking at other reviews of the place it seems as if we either ordered the wrong dishes or we went there on the wrong night. I've definitely had better Portuguese food for much cheaper. The desert was the sole saving grace (almond pudding). For the price we paid, (Lisbon city center level) I honestly cannot recommend the food, specially not the salmon.More

This is an elegant yet rustic Restaurant in the heart of Elvas. The decorations are wonderful. The food is traditional. Great seafood and traditional Altentejo dishes. We had the Lavangante Seafood Rice. As I don't like Cilantro and am allergic to Ameijos ( a clam...species), we asked if we can have parsley and no Ameijos. Not a problem, very flexible. The portion is huge. We had a liver chorizo as an appetiser which was very good. However we couldn't finish the Main Course which was amazing. This Restaurant is a must if you should visit Elvas.More

Stumbled across this restaurant and so glad we did. Beautiful interior, great old school service and the food was superb. I had Bacalau with Spinach and my wife had Salmon in the most divine sauce. Loved the beer served in copper cups that stayed cold...to the last drop. Would return if we find ourselves in the incredible village of Elvas.More

After a long drive from Spain this was the best find in the centre of Elvas. The service was superb and the food was really impressive. The staff were very attentive and served really lovely Portuguese (of course!) wine at perfect temperature. A memorable place...for sure. Highly recommended. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g189104-d3585365-r762888663-Adega_Regional-Elvas_Portalegre_District_Alentejo.html#More

The restaurant looks from inside very nice, the staff is very friendly and helpful. So all the element are there to get 4 or even 5 stars, but at the end it is about the food they serve. I had a salmon dish. The salmon...was too dry and had too many bones for a filet. There were no vegetables served and the potatoes were still hard ( not yet cooked well). The desert was delicious. So if the main dish was done better, I was willing to give them 4 starsMore

Though it is not easy to find (it is down the slope from the magnificent Praza), this place is well worth looking out for- and reserving. Full of locals and, after the lockdown, visitors from nearby Spain, the Adega is a terrific place to eat...lunch or dinner, it has a fantastic menu full of Alentejo specialities and (as you might expect) a huge wine menu. The roasted peppers and cod are especially wonderful. The service was efficient and friendly. This is simply a different world to the seaside restaurants...More
