Simple, honest and good dishes. Top service in a nice surounding. For sure a come back bistro / restaurant.

Excellent location to be in the city and quickly on the beach. Top staff and management team, extremely flexible and helpful with a friendly personal touch. Great breakfast and very stylish rooms. The restaurant also offers excellent quality and each menu was of excellent taste....1a * - we will come back.More
The interior is promising, so artistic and beautiful. The food is good, nicely assembled dishes, much more creative and modern than the other Ostend restaurants. What ruined it twice now for us was the young waiter who’s heart is nowhere near serving customers... The idea...might be non-nonsense which is fine but this is plain arrogance and a ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude, shadowing our experience. We used to like the previous location which was more simple but definitely had more heart in it. Shame as it could be uplifted easily by employing someone kind...More
We came to this pearl of a restaurant for the simple reason that most restaurants in Oostende are closed on Sunday nights, Mondays and Tuesdays (sic). Belle de Jour was open on Tuesday and that's how we decided to come. Great idea. The art deco...style restaurant with discrete sophisticated jazz background music is a gem. Loved the food. Had the vitello tonnato, cod fish roasted with sweet potatoes, and the Irish ribeye with "minute" bearnaise. Loved every mouthful The restaurant design is made after celebrity local painter Jean Brusselmans.More
We visited this restaurant but it was at Madridstraat 9-11. We were in a hurry but the chef managed to knock out some inventive veggie meals of lentils, sweet potato and goats cheese. Not cheap but good quality. I'd like to go back with more...time!More
Tacked away in a not so inviting street at the back of the former main Post Office in Ostend, Belle de Jour is a genuine bistro with great food and a very decent selection of wines (although fairly expensive). The selection of dishes is somehow...restricted, but covers the whole spectrum (maybe not vegan though !!!). The flavours are excellent and the quantities are generous. Better have a starter to save a long wait before main courses are served, esp on a busy evening. Staff are friendly and helpful translating Flemish to English. Value for money. a bit on the expensive side but very much within Belgian standards.More
We arrived at a really busy lunch time. Despite our online reservation there was no table left for us, but staff seated us temporarily at a small table and then moved us to a more comfortable spot. We waited over an hour for our starter,...but in the end, the food was really nice with fresh and tasty ingredients and prepared with a lot of care, you could tell. Worth the wait after all.More
Dear Els Vanbiervliet, What an idea of you to accept that huge big table last Saturday, you should had given them the all restaurant..........lould converstations stupid jokes and more. The rest of the tables were not too pleased with them. Your place isn"t at all...cheap, and the minimum respect for your clients is that you are responsable that we can talk to eachother without screaming. Belle de Jour sounded like a vulgar place to be. Going out all our clothes were smelling of kitchen, great.............. Must say you have nice people working for you, food for Ostend more than good; Please take care of your clients; Thanks Jan d'AubioulMore
Pure good ingredients make beautiful dishes, prepared by funky ladies and served by Nick! Beautiful cocktail !
Had lunch here with my wife. My positives and negatives: + Atmosphere is really nice; cosy, casual. + Food is simple but really good. +/- Restaurant did not accept my creditcard or foreign bank card (Dutch), but only accepted cash or Belgian bank card. This...is ok, but a bit inconvenient. - Staff seems unexperienced and makes mistakes. Forgot about the glass wine I ordered (but did charge already), we ordered sparkling water but got still water, staff was too busy to be observant. - Although the food is great, the restaurant is a bit overpriced considering the service is not matching the price levels. We paid 70 euros for lunch (two main courses, a glass of wine and a bottle of still water), which is fine when both food and service are good, but it is not.More
