Tasty local food in a bit fancy place

Local foods in a bit fancy place. The service could be more professional, the staff more attentive, and a smile would not kill them :-) But the place is pleasant and facing the sea, many seafood/fish choices. Mid-range prices and foods worth them.

Good place for a snack

Having missed lunch, I decided on a quick mid-afternoon snack at l’Apéro on Albert I-Promenade. As it was past the lunch rush hour, service was swift and relaxed. I had a plate of smoked salmon with toast and a Belgian waffle with whipped cream. Both were very nice, but I was disappointed the salmon was served on a badly chipped plate. The price was very reasonable for the Belgian coast

Good food, waiting was a bit long

This restaurant is right at the beach with a beautiful view. The food was very good and the waiters were friendly. My bf and I ordered just main course and we didn't have to wait very long. However after our main course was finished it took a while before our plates were taken away, and it also took long for them to come around for drinks. The service was good nonetheless and the tea was served in a super cute pot. The dessert was very tasty. We think the price quality ratio was fine too.

Bad expereince

I went to your restaurant L Apero for lunch during my holiday in Belgium. My boyfriend and I ordered one and half of dozen of oyster to share as an entree. When the waiter placed the oyster on the table, we noticed there were some broken shells in the oyster. But we thought it was only in 1 or 2 pieces, as it might happened when you open the and the broken shells fall into it. We ate 3 oysters in total, and our mouth was filled with the shells. So we told one of the staff. She immediately seen and took the dishes back to the kitchen. After 10 mins. later, she returned with two new plates. However, this time same things happens. We were disappointed, so we decided not to have anymore and asked to cancel the oyster order and re-ordered a new dish grilled prawn with sauce and I stayed remained on my grill prawn as I ordered before. We waited for long time, so I decided to have one more glass of champagne . During this time I asked to speak to the restaurant manager, one of the waiter told us he is in the restaurant and will look around for him. But he never show up. So we asked another staff and she said he doesn’t know where he is and not sure if he will comes back. I have the feeling that he was try to avoiding us. By the time , the prawn dishes comes, it was totally raw, like sushi, just bit cooked outside, and raw totally inside. It was unbelievable to accept this kind of quality in your restaurant, as it is not a fast food restaurant where you have no expectation. I sent email to the restaurant few times but no response at all.

Went last saturday... Unfriendly staff and sour soup. As a local, I can safely say that I will never return to this place.

gone downhill

as a regular visitor to this restaurant it saddens me to say it has really gone down hill this season had to wait 1 hour for our food and only got it as we had to remind them when the moule arrived it was obvious that they had forgotten about them and us as some staff members were to busy trying to chat up a group of single women which is not acceptable in any restaurant then when the food did arrive they had reheated them to serve us and the moules were totally inedible will not return plenty of other places on the seafront

Very good food, but quite expensive. Different types of set menu for any taste. Good service, but staff speaks no English.

been before so knew what to expect and was very pleased the meal was lovely and the service has improved except for the 2 young girls who showed more interest in their mobile phones than the customers such a shame but its the next generation

spent a few days in Ostend and pre booked this resto ( reservation needed) and will say it ticked all the right boxes from value quality service and the very friendly staff make sure you are hungry as the portions are large well presented and very tasty service on the first visit was a little bit slow but the restaurant was completely full at 7pm but this did not spoil the evening we will visit again when in Ostend

Arrogant service + bad kitchen

Ordered steak (medium) got it back BLEU; ordered it again (saignant) and got it back BIEN CUIT. The staff serving was arrogant in acknowledging this and started a discussion.

Not many choice during lunch time in march but pleasant view and service. I think its a bit pricey. Chocolate mousse not so good and sole too oily. Service was good

A proper restaurant with perfect location

Perfect location with a modern interieur. Everything went perfect, starting friom ordering, serving and oaying. Portions are not too big but enough. Tasteful food however chips could be baked a bit longer, but probably it is a Belgian way and a salad could have more dressing and a bit more veggies in addition to lettuce. Fish and shrimps were just fine.

there is a cool view on the sea. we had nice weather so we chose to sit at the entrance. we took only 2 small beers (ca.8 eur). they have only bottled beers. regarding food the prices vary between ca. 14 and 28 eur per meal. they have shrimps, fish, steaks, etc.

Excellent food and service

We have visited this restaurant when visiting Ostend a number of years ago and had a great experience and on our recent visit we were not disappointed. Our chosen dishes were cooked to perfection and as requested, the ingredients were of a high quality. The staff are attentive, warm and friendly and I would highly recommend - am sure you will not be disappointed.
