As foodie there is no reason to miss a chance to dine at a three star Michelin restaurant when visiting a new city. So we booked at Hertog Jan. The restaurant is located outside Brugge so you either have to go by car (and miss the wines) or by taxi - we chose the taxi :-) The place has a... More

This was our second visit to the Hertog Jan, the first one at the new location! Location The restaurant is located in rural Zedelgem, a few kilometers from the highway exit in Loppem and close to Bruges. It consist of a renovated farm shed (kitchen) and a newly constructed building which is surrounded by a pond and a very large... More

This beautiful restaurant, which at first glance looks like a modern farm, is hidden away in the Belgian countryside, about 20 minutes away from Bruges city centre. We arrived just before sunset, and walked around their garden whilst sipping on delicious floral iced tea. Seeing where they grow their produce definitely does something for your appetite. The staff are so... More

This is an extraordinary restaurant and you will not be disappointed by the food. The vegetable and spice garden is probably at the foundation of the success of this hotel. Every course was accompanied by pure and fresh vegetables like you have not eaten them before. Our surprise menu had 5 appetizers each one unique in taste and composition. Our... More

We were a party of three, with one vegetarian. We took the small discovery menu. One of us had assorted wines, the other was designated driver so no alcohol, and I had two beers. We were all very happy with the experience. At one point there was a mixup and I received the same starter dish. It was quickly corrected.... More

The location is stunning, as is the building where they are located. The restaurant area is almost empty, industrial and meagar furnished, no warm ambiance. Overlooking the herbgarden is nice, what's missing is an air conditioning that keeps the whole at a constant comfortable temperature. Reception and the service is correct, friendly and cool, we lacked the passion and customer... More
