Of course, this isn't a cheap restaurant - the midweek menu was 65 euros, plus wine and drinks, and when the cheese trolley came round (an additional 18 euros per person!), it was hard to say no! For all that, the food was excellent. The sea bream carpaccio, the turbot main course, and the dessert, we're all excellent, with the... More

to be honest, i had very high expectations about this venue. My husband booked it at least a month before we were due to get to Bruges, and considering it is michelin starred, i thought it would be great. well, he food was good, very good in fact. we went for the 3 course menu, i got fish instead of... I dined alone, but did not feel alone or awkward. The setting is lovely and serene. The staff is multilingual and knowledgeable. There a many half bottle options for wine. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The dessert was too much for one, but I ate my share. It was a memorable evening and worth every dime/penny/dollar/Euro.

This is one of the best dinners I have ever experienced, I booked everything online which was made simple by the restaurants website and they were very accommodating as my partner is a Celiac. The restaurant it self is quite small and intimate and the staff were impeccable in their attentiveness and ever helpful. My partner and I had the... More

Caviar and potatoes were exquisite. The oysters were presented on a bed of sea shells with 3 different sauces. The sea bass for two was presented before serving. Chef came out to personally say goodbye to everyone. The assam tea, served in an iron tea pot, and Belgian white wine were excellent. A very welcoming and warm experience.

The restaurant's name means the Golden Herring, however it does not indicate that it is only fish and seafood place. It only brings back the memory of old days, when here was a fish shop. Today it is a refined establishment, providing gourmet experience in Brugge. 4-course Market menu (€80) was well balanced, all dishes nicely presented and delicious. Michelin... More

Called for early evening dinner, Superb menu, attentive genuinely interested staff, Koen was wonderful, tasteful surrounding, simple and tasteful but most effective. Proprietor on site, marvelous chef. NOT TO BE MISSED.

If you visit Bruges and consider yourself a foodie then I can't recommend this place (and The Herring's Residence) enough. 5 star perfection from start to finish. I emailed and spoke to the wife of Michelin chef Philipe with some dietary requirements and from the first email to paying our bill was a smooth and faultless. Top service all round.... More

Having never experienced a Michelin star restaurant I thought a weekend in Bruges might be the perfect opportunity. From the moment we arrived I was sadly disappointed. The welcome we received was far from welcoming, we were seated in a small side room with only 4 tables, away from the main restaurant. This was a shame as it felt very... More
